Hangs on "Saving your ride..." screen

This is a new one for me... likely a corner case.

Riding indoor trainer and using Karoo2 to monitor my left/right pedal balance.

Steps to reproduce:

  • Start workout on PC (Zwift, TrainerRoad, ...)
  • Power on Karoo2
  • Select Profile - "Indoor: Power" (In my case)
    2-3 screens -- both with only power, power balance (5 and 30sec ave), HR and Cadence
  • Don't "start" a ride. (I set my Karoo2 Enable Auto-Pause == Off when indoor riding, otherwise it just shuts down after a bit.)
    Ride clock (upper left auto-starts), Time (upper right is current and working)
    Power reading from Assioma pedals & HR strap all working as expected
  • Do the ride/workout (about ~01:30:00)
  • Press physical buttons for:
    - Pause (lower ride button)
    - End (lower left button)
    - End Confirmation (lower left)

Screen shows "Saving your ride..." -- the background is white and blurred out. Spinner spins.
Let it spin for 1 hr... still spinning. (Maybe it's actually doing something. Don't know. After 1hr, it's hung by my definition...)

This is a pretty weird ride...planning on deleting it without uploading anyway as the training software will upload.

  • zero time (never actually started a ride)
  • zero distance (indoor ride)

Might be trying to save HR, power numbers?

Bench testing for a few seconds to a minute does not hang -- only after an actual 1hr+ workout for me.

    Hi Dan, thanks for laying out the steps for us to try out. I tried these on a couple of bench tests and indoor ride test, however, I did not face the problem. Do you see this happening on a particular profile or on rides greater than 1 hour?

    Another step in the sequence maybe... same issue this morning -- endless "saving your ride..." screen.

    Started training, started the Karoo

    • Start - different than above -- in order to have a workout time, I must be starting it
    • Lap - At the end of the training effort - press LAP (left side button)
    • Pause
    • End
    • End -- Saving your ride... (hangs here)

    Forced shutdown. Turning it back on, the ride is available in the Rides app and in the Dashboard.

    Build 1.257.1131.12

    Two days ago, it did work for me. At the end of the ride, I did not press the the Lap button before the End Ride sequence. This did save without issues.

    Continues to hang on the saving ride display intermittently.

    But it may just be the ride app... ride appears to be saved

    • Saving ride screen is displayed. won't go away
    • Back to menu works! Can view the ride in the Rides app
    • Can move around to other apps
    • Returning to ride -- continues to show "Saving ride..."
    •  Clock is frozen -- not updating in the background

    Attempting to attach a video. If that can't be viewed and would be helpful, let me know.

    Have NOT had the problem again -- three rides in with the new Firmware update (end of Jan 2022). Fingers crossed.
