Only 8 discreet display brightness levels?

I'm on the latest firmware build 1.271.1157, and notice that there seem to be only 8 distinct brightness levels, although the brightness control supports 1% increments. The brightness jumps that I can visibly detect are at 9%, 22%, 34%, 48%, 61%, 74%, 87% and 100%

Is there really a difference in brightness between say, 0% and 8% (in power draw perhaps) and the other steps? If not, it would be easier to have brightness control that goes from 0 - 7, especially if you're trying to change brightness while riding.

If there are only 8 distinct brightness levels, and power draw is lower at, say 22% vs 33% even though perceived brightness is the same, then a brightness control with 8 settings, each at the lowest power draw for that perceived brightness makes sense.

  Any update on this? The behavior is still the same in latest firmware 1.292.1311.12. The brightness slider shouldn’t allow brightness increments of 1% if the actual displayed brightness doesn’t change - it just makes the control harder to use.
