Detect when ride app is on screen

Is there any way to detect when the ride app is on screen? as far as I can tell, if I issue an InRideAlert when the Ride app is not on screen (e.g. the rider has opened the Control Center) my InRideAlert gets swallowed up and not displayed... I would like to be able to detect taht situation and defer my InRideAlert until the ride app is back on screen and the rider can actually see my alert.
