Questions about navigation and routing
I'm considering buying a Karoo 3 and I have some questions about the routing and navigation:
- When starting a ride on an uploaded GPX track does the unit need to (re)calculate the route? How long does this take for a 80km track?
- When going off-route does the unit send me back to the place I left the course (U-turn) or will it suggest a route to the nearest point on the course?
- I'm currently using a Garmin GPSMAP where I usually upload a direct route with a number of 'Via-Points'. The unit then calculates a route between these Via-points. Does the Karoo have a similar functionality?

Hi
To the best of my knowledge…1. Takes a few seconds to load a route which is on the device, even if you are already on it. I guess the exact time depends on complexity/ turns as well as length.
2. When you leave a route it directs you to the nearest point on the route to your current position. You’ll see the route on the device and a red line showing your immediate route is off the original route. Point of route divergence isn’t relevant.
3. I don’t follow this exactly but you either synch a route from an app (like Strava, Komoot, Ridewithgps etc). Or you can do a route synch or on the fly using the HH app. I believe that you can have a destination on google maps, send to the unit, then the unit works out the route. I think this is true but I’ve never tried it. Not sure if you can do multiple points for that method.
Cheers
Simon
