I tried it today and it works perfect!! I have added the livetrack link and it is super useful, even when I finish the route it notifies my partner that I have reached my destination. fantastic! I love it!

Cool idea Oscar. I don't see any details on the github page. Can you provide some information on what the app does, limitations, etc?

Hi Byron! The app is a service that is triggered every time we have a RIDE_START and RIDE_END event. If we have the SMS notifications enabled tries to send an SMS to the contact with the information that is set in the app, if we have the email enabled (new feature) tries to send an email using the SMTP configuration. Im not sending anything to the outside (except the SMS and email) so all data is stored in the app.

For SMS notifications are the notifications sent through a phone connected via Bluetooth or the Karoo? If the Karoo I assume that means you need a SIM with a plan that includes SMS? Just curious because I use a data only SIM.

Hi Byton, SMS are sent through the sim, for the email we use the internet connection (wifi or sim) but we are not using the BT to mobile because the karoo doesn't have this functionality

Hi. I have just received my HHK2 and I'm exploring possibilities. I'm wondering why there is no LT implementation using BT as there is clearly working protocol for pushing notifications from phone using companion app. Is there anything easier for HH developers to implement coordinates push to companion app and further to map view service? Why is this not still implemented? Is marketing team saving this "mega feature" for K3? What a shame.

Possibly there are things to improve in livetracking, but that attitude does not seem very correct to me when making a request. Personally, livetracking depending on the mobile does not interest me, because with Garmin the fact of having a permanently open communication drained my mobile battery. You can create a Wi-Fi access point on your mobile if you do not want to put a SIM For me it would be more interesting to have the history of the track covered, to calculate the time approx. back to the house of the person you follow.

Toni, if you create a Wifi access point on your mobile the wifi connection switch off once you start the activity

Rafa, you can force activate it. But honestly, the battery drain is not worth it.

I think that if you are really going to make regular use of livetracking, it is worth putting a SIM. The question that Hammerhead should have a garmin connect type platform linked to a mobile, well that would also be fantastic. But you don't develop such a platform quickly. I think there are many other important details and features to implement that require infinitely fewer resources for the development team.

Toni, the platform needed for LT via BT is there already. There are working push notifications, there is working map service. It is really not that hard to implement regular push from device to companion app and forward it to map service. I think there is probably too big penalty for battery life or some kind of twisted management decision. Otherwise it would be implemented long time ago.

Hammerhead'live tracking is not practical and not aligned with major competitors. At the moment it is not practical at all. It requires to save a live track url and access it when you wish to see the riders current location.
The first enhancement should be to send an SMS or email with the url to contacts when a ride is started.
Someone has created an app for it, but I prefer an official, built in feature.

    Hi all

    @support@hamerhead.io

Any news on this subject / suggestions.

A lot of karoo users are waiting for this change : having a notification when ride start to specified contacts with the right link.

    waiting also for accident detection.

Everynting is better in karoo vs Garmin, except this two topics/

@Òscar Penelo, I tried your app, it works ! thank you, but I have a message when the ride start "Alerts keeps stopping" and my contacts have only the last notifcation and not the 'Ride_Start'

    Thanks.

Where are we in the pipeline for Livetracking improvements, notably route taken (i.e. route history or breadcrumbs?) Since the route is recorded for every ride, I'd think this would not be challenging. Thanks
