WaxLog: track the km on your waxed chains – and your chain rotation
Hi everyone,
I wax my chains and rotate three of them on my bike – and I kept losing track of which one had how many km on it, and which one was freshly waxed and ready to go on. So I built WaxLog, an extension for the Karoo 3 – together with Claude: I came up with the idea, made the design decisions and tested everything on my own Karoo on real rides; Claude wrote most of the code.

What it does
• Chain rotation: a chain set per bike. Swap chains with one tap, mark a chain as waxed when it comes out of the pot, and see at a glance which one is ready and which needs waxing first.
• Counts automatically: every ride is credited to the chain that's on the bike.
• Data field: the chain's km and its wax limit, in three variants and any size. Large fields also show this ride's distance and roughly how many rides the chain still lasts.
• Alerts: a popup and a beep when a chain is due soon (90 % of its limit by default, adjustable) and when it's due.
• History, backups and transfer to a new Karoo via Wi-Fi/QR code. Updates install by themselves, never during a ride.
It's free, and it doesn't send your data anywhere – it only goes online to check GitHub for updates.
Install: open the latest release on your phone, long-press the APK and share it with the Hammerhead Companion app. Details and screenshots: https://github.com/Zalvato/Karoo-WaxLog
