Weatherproof USB-C cover
Hi,
I've been using the Karoo 2 for a couple of years, it's brilliant. The navigation and the climber features are superb. What is not so good is the engineering. The Garmin mount adaptor was useless without an elastic band to correct the fit, and the original USB-C plug fell out on the first ride.
Now I received a mail with an invitation to buy one for 10 EUR. Cheeky. You shipped me a piece of useless rubber to leave on the road, and now you ask that I buy something else to compensate for your inadequate engineering tolerances! Give us a break, mail me the new plug and I'll let you know if it stays in place and protects my Karoo this winter.
This brand is building a passionate following because it is everything that Garmin isn't - user friendly and joy to ride with. Don't spoil it with poor business decisions.

I came here thinking the *exact* same thing. In the U.S. it’s $10. Best case they send one for free to those who complain, but even that is not the way to do it. Send out an email to those who bought Karoo 2 through your site saying “if you want a free USB-C cover, click here it or fill out a form and we’ll mail you one”!!
Disappointing

If there is a really updated version wich is not dropped on the first gravel ride I'd be in.
like you said, it's really a poor engineering to have a cover for the USB-C port that can be dropped, why is it not just integrated?
Or even a more technical approach, why not a Qi Charging cover to really seal all water out? -
I got a free promo code via email, so the new cover was free, and also free shipping (in the UK, at least for me) - it should be with me in 3-4 days.
In the small print, it says: "***You are receiving this part for free as your purchase is within the 45-day return window." It was, but it seems pretty unfair to those who have had the device longer...

I don't see the complaint. The untethered dust cover isn't necessary and neither is this new tethered one.
The charging port is IP67 rated. If you ride in the rain, blow out the charging port before you charge it again and it'll be fine.
I've had my Karoo 2 in all sorts of inclement weather and it's still working fine and I've never used the useless dust cover they shipped. I'm assuming they only produced those because people got nervous about the charging port being uncovered, even though there's no need to cover it. -
I think it’s absolutely worth it for 10$. I’ve gone through 2x k2’s with melted ports, and while it would be great to have this just show up in the mail for free, the 10$ is quite a small price for piece of mind, loss of recorded rides (due to a broken K2), and my time reaching out to HH support for a replacement.
It was also nice that the provided the tool to install the new port cover.I also expected a shipping cost to this item. Was a pleasant surprise to see ‘free shipping’.

I have a protective cover for my unit ( https://www.amazon.co.uk/TUFF-LUV-Compatible-Hammerhead-Protective-black/dp/B093GV2LHZ?th=1 ) and have also covered the USB C male plug with some electrical tape to stop it dropping out.
