Repost: Arrow Marker Position - multiple positions - see more road ahead
AnsweredHi Hammerhead,
we had shortly an intense discussion on an older post Position marker (arrow) on the bottom. – Hammerhead
A lot of users just brought in new input, but since the post is answered as marked since 1 year, I guess HH won't check it.
Some riders are happy with the actual approximatly central position (esp. when using the north-is-up map orientation).
For a lot of riders - esp. using the riding-direction map orientation - it would be a great improvement to also have the possibility to toggle the marker to the lower edge of the visible map to "see more road ahead" as it is the Hammerhead-Slogan :-)
Could you please rethink this topic?
Thanks, Andreas

@Andreas: We really appreciate you sharing your input and your requirement. Checking the previous post, understand that some riders including you would like to see the position marker moved to the lower edge to see the entire path ahead. We have shared these sentiments with the Product team and they will be happy to review this request.

Hi @Julianne, same feelings here. Previously the last update, the arrow was near the buttom, but now it is perfectly centered, so you cannot see the path ahead... I think it is not useful at all, but if there is a doubt by designers, maybe this could be configurable as any other parameter... Attached a photo of karoo in April, where you can see the arrow in the previous position.

Also, I can suggest to Product Team via Support Team, the next turn indication could be beside the arrow on a corner, or on a top corner, not very big, in order to save map invaluable pixels. And maybe, also configurable.
Regards.

This is a very welcome change for us north-is-up users (even if it is still strangely off-centre in some layouts), but I agree it could be configurable and/or change based on orientation. (And while we’re at it, also add configuration options for default orientation and magnification. About three months to go until I’ll have to start wearing full-finger gloves again...)
Then again I’m not sure it is so bad for forward-is-up users either, as the arrow at the bottom means you will see very little of the road ahead much of the time if the road makes lots of twists and turns (mountain hairpins as a good example). If you’re just riding straight ahead, does it make that much of a difference whether you’ll find about the turn slightly sooner or later, plus you always have the option of zooming out as well.

Hi guys, Yeah still same for me....Arrow in the center wastes a lot of the big display, and zoom out is of course not a solution.
This post has been "answered" by HH so I guess they don't read the posts anymore.
I would suggest that someone opens a new post (I've already done 2....without any change by "the product team".
In addition everyone who is really unnerved by the centered arrow should do a direct request.
--> as other configurable features (e.g. design of datafields) it should not be a problem for HH to implement a configurable position/orientation

Hi @Andreas... I opened a new request: https://support.hammerhead.io/hc/en-us/community/posts/16833767890075--REQUEST-Proposals-after-29th-June-update
I hope it will be heard...
Hi @Anna, I didn't imagine the use you do with the map, with the north orientation... God bless this forum. In your case, having the centred position is a MUST. I included a comment about this in the new request. Thanks a lot for your comment.
Best regards to all.
