Bug: Elevation Data is wild & inconsistent
Version 1.349.1396 elevation data is all over the place. Elevation software settings to "calibrate now" are difficult to access and inconvenient to remember for every ride. Please introduce Auto Calibrate Elevation when device is Powered-On. This should be automated. Thank you

Auto calibration is already there, shouldn’t have to press “calibrate now” if you have it on (the altitude may be off initially after turning the unit on if it hasn’t found a GPS signal yet, for instance right now I’m supposedly 92 metres under water...).
Elevation data is all over the place for sure (check the altitude profile for your ride if there are spikes where the altitude changes suddenly), but in my little experiment I found that automatic calibration on (and mobile data off, which somehow seems to be the main culprit here) gives the best results.

Anna: it seems auto calibrate is auto on demand by pressing "calibrate now" vs manual you enter the actual digits. I've seen current elevation drop by 100 feet when pressing calibrate now. Hence it is not auto in my experience. I do have an internal sim card so maybe I will remove it.
David: Thanks! I do think it would have to be triggered before a ride starts so we dont record bad elevation readings for a even a second.

If you are going to the menu before starting a ride, I think the calibration just hasn’t happened yet. I never bother to press “calibrate now” (this is not aviation after all, a couple of head unit generations ago I had the thing set up to just set the altitude to 16 m asl at start regardless of where I started...) and the altitude at start is the usually the part that makes the most sense (especially in regions where the altitude spikes are a big problem with mobile data on, just turning it off without removing the sim card should already help quite a bit).

One thing to note I power on my Karoo 2 about 5 - 15 minutes before riding to give it time to sync to gps/elevation/altitude/ and run a few circles in the parking lot before taking off. I'm in coastal San Diego so not much altitude here. Will test mobile data off and see how it goes.
