Do you have a SIM card installed?

Hi, this weekend I've gone for a ride with rain, and have big problems with the percentage of climbs, I was ascending and GPS indicates negative percentages

At the end of the ride I have this percentage... WTF???? -38%????? + 28%????

Anyone have this kind of problems?

+1 see this often. I lwt strava recalculate thetotal altitude afterwards. But makes climber not to teliable. I do have a sim installed, but never use it during a ride, mobile data disabled then

Try removing the SIM. Apparently, there are known hardware issues when the SIM is installed.

+1 I've had this on a few rides recently with 6-10% climbs reading as 1-2%

No sim card installed and have to use strava to recalc.

It's really annoying for judging how far into an elevation based ride I am. Not had this unit for long and things like this make me think of switching back

Never had a SIM installed, so it's not that.  I'm seeing maximum and minimum gradients of +80% to -50%, and -5% showing on a +12% climb.   Hammerhead support have suggested a factory reset, and disabling my magnetic wheel sensor, neither helped.

I use the gradient a lot to manage longer climbs, and it's here that it's most inconsistent and frustrating.

Hi, I'm having the same problems with gradient. I already have this issues before, and hammerhead replaced my karoo2 unit with a new one. Now with this unit I started 2 or 3 months ago with the same problem, it starts to drop to - 41% then instantly goes to +50%, a route with total ascent of 800mts show more than 3.000mts. The result is that I can't use this device for training seriously and have to come back to my old garmin 1030.

I have a sim card installed more than a year ago, and have no trouble with it. I will try without sim card for a copule of rides and see what happens, but I think that hammerhead have some kind of trouble with this since the beginning, don't know if hardware or software related.

Hello friends, this weekend I installed my SIM card in the K2 for the first time. I actually came to see that most of the time it gives a wrong reading. On the first ascent K2 launched the ClimbePRO about 300 meters before the ascent and in the end of climb he was still far from the top when the K2 give the complete ascent information. Which leads me to believe that it has a lot to do with the fact that you are using mobile data directly from the SIM. Also the live tracking put me approximately 200 meters ahead of reality. Next weekend I will do a test without the SIM and with mobile data attached to the phone.

I have also problems with grade & ascent....especially when MTBiking; while Roadbiking I have just the "normal" 10-20% tolerance.

I noticed in these rides "altitude spikes" all over my measurement...which leads to massive wrong ascent values:

I guess the SIM itself can not be the problem. But to me it looks that when riding and having mobile data enabled K2 tries to permantly match your actual measured position (from K2 GPS/Baro) with either theoretical altitude data embedded in their maps and/or some kind of SIM-network-Position-data. This could lead to wrong/ jumping values.

But anyway, I have no clue...it would really be nice if Hammerhead could analyze and find a solution instead of letting their paying customers speculate about the problem & and potential workarounds.

--> The altitude/ ascent/ grade problems are being discussed since more than a year

I'm regularly seeing wrong max and/or min grade values displayed in my ride overviews too, like here where lap 4 is the same route as lap 1 just driven in reverse:

Btw I have no SIM card or sensors installed.

Hammerhead replaced my Karoo 2 under warranty after my grade issues, and the new unit usually reports the grade correctly. It does still go wrong occasionally, usually when it's raining.
