Hello again! (after 3 years). And light in Garmin Radar RTL515
AnsweredHello again! (after 3 years)
I was a user of the karoo1 when it was launched but it had some shortcomings and it was a bit heavy for my BTT. Now 3 years later, and having a Garmin 1040, I return to the karoo2 looking for a travel companion to follow routes :)
To say that the evolution in functions has been spectacular. Congratulations to the entire development team. I had not returned to the karoo2 before, because it seems to me something small. I would like a 3.5" or larger screen, without reaching the size (width and weight) of the initial model. I think a 3.5"-3.7" model with hardly any frames would be wonderful for those of us who do Gravel and ultracycling!
To the case: I have linked my Garmin Varia RTL515. It was difficult for me to link the lights part but I finally got it. The problems I have are several, let's see if it's a bug, is it like that, or what happens.
- I can't control the lights from the karoo. If I select FLASH SLOW, OFF, etc... the radar does nothing.
- If from the radar pressing once the button, changes status on Karoo! Therefore there is communication between the two.
- When starting or ending an activity, the radar does not turn on automatically or turn off, as it happens with a Garmin edge. this is so?
I hope not to give too much war in the forums ;).
Waiting for that multi-language update that it supposes will come sometime in February and hoping that you will release a revised karoo3 soon, with more screen, less frames, new CPU, gyro, etc... I think the navigation is great and I would like not to go back to it. my Edge 1040.

EDIT:
I've tried pairing a Bontrager FLARE RT and it works as expected. I start activity and turn on light. I finish activity and turn off light! Perfect.
The problem is with the RTL515 Radar, it does not start or turn off, nor can I select the mode, etc.
Hello Again! I Factory restart my Varia (8" buttom press), and repeat all the process and works as spected! sorry!

Garmin 1040 is worse without a doubt. The point does not appear so smooth, it goes to jumps. For me the worst thing is that in the 1040 when the car has passed you it is 1-2" still showing the point as if it were (lag) until it hits the green. In Karoo2 it is faster.
The Garmin 1000 with the first Garmin varia model was instantaneous and much more accurate. Then I switched to the 1030 with the first radar and it wasn't going so well anymore. And the new radar with 1030+ and 1040 just as bad. I have a little lag (perpahps to consume less battery).
In this aspect I do not miss the 1040
