    Hi All,

This bug has been addressed in today's release. Apologies as it tool long for us to investigate and find a relevant fix for avg power getting reset on every drop.

    Thank you!

Joe, Strava does not allow you to exclude these 0 values, and they will be included in your overall power analysis. This has been seen due to the difference in the moving time that Strava calculates from the GPS location and not directly from the FIT file records.

Correct. I want zero averaging. Meaning Strava includes zeros for power. But the K2 is not including zeros even though I have it turned on.

Which is why the average power is higher in the K2 than in Strava.

Thanks, Joe. Can you please share the FIT file of any such activity with us in an email to support@hammerhead.io? We will raise this as a bug, if that's the case.

Also, please share the screenshot of the ride summary that you see on Karoo 2 and Strava

We have found this to be an issue on your file and ride summary on Karoo. We will get it prioritised for a fix.

    Hi Joe and Ali

I have noticed something similar on my Karoo after the zero-averaging option was introduced but I only managed to ride with that setting twice before switching over to my winter bike without a power meter. Back then I did notice that the higher difference there was between the weighted average power on Strava and the average power, the greater the difference was between the power that Strava showed and the Karoo, if that makes sense? This would suggest that the Karoo does include some zeros and my hypothesis was that it had something to do with the Karoo's data recording frequence because it was better with the zero averaging set to include zeros in the Karoo settings. However I did not feel that I had enough "data" to make any conclusions.
    Best regards Anders

Hi All, this has been reported as a known issue for a fix. The ride summary on Karoo can show higher average if there are drops on your ride, which Karoo does not seem to include and is excluding those 0s. This is getting looked at as part of the sensor issue as a whole. A drop on Karoo immediately goes down to 0 where as a competitor devices are seen to hold the last known to hold the last known power during the drops.

This is still not fixed! We need this fixed ASAP as this is useless as a training tool.

Looks like this issue is being ignored.  Even with all the updates this issue still persists.  I dont like paying for something to be a beta tester.

    Hi Joe
I share your annoyment an hope that it will be fixed soon. Hopefully it will be in the next update. The thing is that it might take some time to get to the root of the issue and at least I hope it is being taken care of. I will admit that I for one hope that this is pretty high in priority because as you mention it is core functionality when using the computer for training purposes.

Hi All, I promise you all that this is not being ignored. One of the underlying root cause is dropouts on the power meters, so unless we can solve that - we can't change the implementation to avoid duplicating the efforts. I know these dropouts should have been solved by now, but there is a major ongoing effort within the development team as the addition of new features each release presents several challenges. I assure you that this will be fixed once we get to the root of all the issues leading to this.

    Hi

I recently bought a Karoo 2 and overall I'm very pleased. But to day I found out that the average watts was 30 watts off when I completed the ride. I had a felling that something wasn't right. Havn't you fixed this issue?

I was having the same issue with a Rotor 2inPower.

In my case, I checked the software version and it required an update to 1.061 (installed version was 1.060). According to Rotor - the new firmware extends the time the power meter will remain "on" without input before turning off. Apparently, the battery saving settings would cause the power meter to shut off during longer descents causing drop-outs.

I re-calibrated the power meter (Non-drive side at 6 O'clock, "calibrate", rotate 2 rotations backwards, "calibrate" again. Calibration value came back -37 (same as it was previously)

After I updated the software the Karoo 2 no longer shows any power or cadence when connected over ANT+ (it shows "connected" but the power and cadence readings remain "0" when riding. Even after factory reset, it will not display power/cadence when connected via ANT+.

After that I connected it via Bluetooth and it began displaying power/cadence again. Went for a 28 mile ride and the power appeared to display accurately again.

When I arrived home, the ride uploaded to Strava and the Average Power for Karoo 2 was 231W vs. 228W on Strava. Max power of 993W was the same on both. I've seen small differences in power readings between Garmin/Wahoo and Strava before so that doesn't really bother me. The previous rides were all 10-20% high on the Karoo.

I have a Rotor Inpower Flow powermeter (ANT+ only). So an older generation powermeter.

But my problem is not connecting to the Karoo2. The Karoo 2 is most likely not including the zeros in the average power, even though my settings are of cause set to include zeros. So a ride avg power could be 290 watts on the Karoo2, but only 260 when uploading to Strava.

When I'm out for a ride it's easy to see that something is wrong, when free wheeling and the power goes to 0 watts, the avg power stays the same. In my opinion this is something that just should work. Very annoying.

I'm in contact with Hammerhead support team, but the problem havn't been fixed yet. My previous computers from Garmin and Wahoo worked flawless in this matter.

Hi Hammerhead, Has there been a resolution on this? My Karoo consistently reports a higher average power than what Strava reports. See the attached screen shots for the same ride. Hammerhead indicates I averaged 212 watts. For the same ride, Strava reports 205 watts.

Hi Jim, we had fixed this issue in one of our releases last year. Could you please share the FIT file of this ride with us in an email to support@hammerhead.io? Also, can you let us know if the Max Power recorded on Karoo is correct or the one reported by Strava?

    @ali My ride yesterday:

HH         TP   SRAM axs ( quarq PM ) Strava

    average P              181        181   95                                  134

    NP                         193        190   173                                 188

I know NP is a different thing of how to calculate, but average?

And this differs on all my rides

Hi John, the numbers should match closer to the TP, but seeing high discrepancy with Strava - we would like to look further here. I have requested Hari to follow up with you, please share some of the latest ride files with us then.
