Hi Aaron, if you are referring to via Bluetooth connection, then it might take time as it is not in immediate plans, that might change based on the requirement and need from another user. As of now, you can connect via Phone hotspot and upload o the fly!

Bluetooth pairing. Should have been one of the first things implemented.

In my experience, the phone hotspot is both much more reliable and also faster than Bluetooth.

Okay, next ride I am going to try using my phone's hot spot. I entered the hotspot name and pw in the Karoo. After I finish my ride on Tuesday, I am going to start my phone's hot spot and then upload my ride and see if the Karoo uses the hotspot and if the ride shows up on Strava. I hate having to wait an hour (or more) until I get home to see an uploaded ride. My Wahoo Fitness Roam uploads almost immediately thru the companion app when I finish a ride. Garmin and Wahoo have been doing this for years. Hammerhead should do it also. Should have done it yesterday.

Okay, I tried the phone hotspot today after my ride and it worked fine. I turned on the hotspot on my phone and then manually uploaded my ride to Strava. This is an acceptable workaround until the K2 has an automated upload. Garmin and Wahoo Fitness have been doing this for a long time. K2 should do it also.

Glad to hear it worked okay for you. My main use of a hotspot has been the opposite - to download a route onto my Karoo.

I've got to say that I thought this was a standard feature. Finishing a ride and auto uploading via a paired phone is a simple use case that would really.improve the usability of the Karoo2

Yes, auto upload SHOULD be a standard feature. As I mentioned earlier Garmin and Wahoo Fitness computers have been doing this since the stone age. My Karoo 2 is now my backup bike computer until this feature gets rolled out. It is living in a sock in my gear bag and will stay there until the darn thing auto uploads my rides.

Seriously? Do you not have access to wi-fi? After tearing my hair out in the past with the unreliable Bluetooth connections on Garmins and Wahoos - and hearing others regularly complain about them - I so enjoy the standalone aspect of the Karoo. While I find the hot-spot solution quite painless myself, on the rare occasion I need it, I would rather stick a SIM card in the Karoo if instant uploads are that much of a priority.

Of course I have access to wi-fi! I shouldn't have to fiddle around with a hot spot and I have another computer that handles this seamlessly. The Karoo should do it too.

What is your current workflow, in that case? You can upload your ride automatically using wi-fi. Why do you want to use a phone instead of doing that?

It uploads fine  - when I get home. I often ride with clubs that are a long way from where I live. Why should I have to wait an hour (or more) for it to automatically connect to my home wi-fi and upload?   The Karoo 2 should automatically upload when I end the ride - JUST LIKE its competitors do. The hot spot/manual upload steps are a workaround. I should NOT have to do that. If you like it fine! I don't I hate it.

Coming from Garmin, Bluetooth uploads are a basic feature. John B: It's a total hassle to get out the phone (and glasses) enable a hotspot, wait for sync and then remember to disable the hotspot.. :(

@Donald Newlands I have only "enjoyed" aggravating experiences with GPSes (Garmin and Wahoo) using Bluetooth in the past, so avoid Bluetooth where possible these days. However, personal bias aside, route download/ride upload options are good, so point taken.

I agree that Bluetooth upload should have been on K2 when it released. Another user case where it is absolutely necessary is multiday rides where you have no wifi at night.

Just want to add to this thread if Devs are still reading.... BLE auto upload should be a basic function.  Upload via hotspot is good, but a pain...  Please bring us BLE....

I can only agree to the requests for auto uploads of rides via the phone. It’s the missing link. As had been said earlier, anything else with hotspots etc. is just a work around.

Hello, i was wondering if this is something that is in the works. When i do not finish my rides at home it is annoying that ride does not upload and you have to wait till you get home, turn on your Karoo again when there is WIFI available. Not even having your phone connected works, which is something every other computer does.

    Thanks

I am seriously looking at purchasing a Karoo 2 to replace my Wahoo Roam for an overseas upcoming multi day trip, as the navigation and climb features look awesome. But the lack of auto upload via phone BLE is a deal breaker - I won't have data roaming, and the last thing I want is to be pairing my head unit to hotel wifi (if available) with all the web portal sign ons and associated hassle.

This is such a basic feature I'm staggered it's still not implemented - seamless ride uploads via BLE is something I use for literally every ride at the post ride coffee stop. DCR had mentioned it was planned for 2021 but its 2022 and still not implemented...can you give any timeline or indication if this is even on the current roadmap?

    Thanks

Yes, a basic feature now on all the other brands the Karoo is competing with, and sadly it is lagging behind. Auto upload of rides via Bluetooth is a no brainer. Come on Hammerhead, - when will there be an upgrade?

…don’t forget that you can use wi-fi on the Karoo2.  It’s not as neat as an auto BLE upload for sure, but it does bridge a (very large!) gap…
