Priority feature request: Power meter Calibration prompt
AnsweredI've said it before, i'll say it again:
There needs to be a prompt to calibrate the power meter when the Karoo connects to one. There also needs to be a fast way to recalibrate the power meter mid-ride.
Calibrating a power meter is something that you have to do before every ride, and it is utterly frustrating that i have to dive into several menus just to calbrate the power meter. My garmin watch would just give a yes/no prompt when the power meter connected. I could also recalibrate the unit mid-ride by pressing 3 hardware buttons once.
Solution - initial connection
When the power meter connects, a pop-up prompt requests "Calibrate Power meter" YES/NO. At this point , the user can set the cranks to the correct position and then select "yes".
Solution - Mid-ride calibration
Recalibration option on the quick action menu. This will alow users to recalibrate the power meter rapidly (at traffic lights), without the need to do a deep dive into the menus.

@ Steve: These are absolutely valuable inputs and we appreciate you suggesting the possible solutions to improve the existing workflow to calibrate the Powermeter. Since we identify these are very thoughtful insights, we have forwarded this to the Product team and they will be happy to discuss this.

Judah, we are still reviewing the format for the roadmap. Our experience in the past was not an easy one, and we would not want to disappoint users again if we are not able to stick to it. It is something we really want to get out but in a fashion that keeps up with the development efforts.

I join this request - using SRM X-Power now, and the SRM recommends to do calibration before each ride.
The Garmin FR935 has a setting for each paired unit whether calibration prompt should come on connecting powermeter.
The point is: this should be configurable per powermeter connected, e.g. P2M does not require calibration before each ride.

@Martin,
I have the older DZero, which i have to calibrate before each ride. Other metres, as mentioned above, require calibration before each ride.
Yes, there is an option to calibrate in the sensor menu, but it takes time to find, and delays the ride. This is particularly annoying when its something that needs doing every ride (for many people). Convenience is an ergonomic feature.
