several days route
AnsweredHello,
I want to cycle over the alps and it should take 5 days. What is the best approach to do it on my new karoo2 ? should I plan one huge route or a smaller ones with stages( on dashboard)? usually I plan route with goals that should be reached.
Stop the ride / Pause the ride / Restart the route next day ....

Frank

Hi Frank, First of all, all the best for your upcoming ride.
You can create a long Route on the Dashboard and it will be synced to Karoo 2. Since you are going for a 5 days trip, Karoo 2 will route you to the nearest point on the Route if you start a new Ride with the same Route on the next day. If you turn off the Karoo 2 or save the Ride, you won't be able to resume the same Ride and need to start a new Ride. For that reason, you have to Pause that Ride and make sure that the Karoo 2 is sufficiently charged so that it won't shut down after draining the battery completely. In this way, we can resume the same Ride the next day.

Hello Hari,
thanks for the answer. Not to get in trouble with the battery it sounds that it makes more sense to stop the ride every day and restart the same route next day. What is the behaviour of the head unit ? Will it try to navigate me back to the start or continue to the destination from the point where I am ? (Red Route Mechanism) Excuse me but I am new to Karoo and get in the winter time and couldn't use it so far.
Regards,
Frank

Hi Hari, so in response to your first reply: you cannot restart the ride after you shut down the Karoo 2? I find this quite disappointing to say the least, it's a feature present in all of your competitors devices. Coupled with the, in my experience, very shaky battery life of the Karoo 2, it seems that a resume feature is essential to make it through full day rides on one battery charge. Is this something you are working on?
