Hi Reginald, As you stated, we would like to explore more options with regards to POIs and we are expecting to make more improvements around this in the coming days.

You can also import the POIs to the Dashboard from RWGPS and it will be synced to the Karoo.

Importing Points of Interest(POI) from RideWithGPS

While you are in-ride, you can zoom in on the map to see the available icons there and drop a PIN to generate a route.

Hari - I did read the article about how to drop a pin and generate a route in-ride. There was something up with my Karoo last night, but when I booted it this morning, the search function in course creation was working, and it loaded the POI I had created in the dashboard.

That's all well and good, but it still doesn't give me a way to navigate to something. Having to drag the map around to find a POI is a PITA. It's just not a workable solution unless you're already very close to where you're going, and/or know where it is.

Tell me Hari, have you used a GPS device before? When you want to navigate to something, how does it work? You search for it, select the thing you want to navigate to, and it routes you. That's it, simple. This morning I found what I was looking for with the search function in route creation, and selected it, but found that meant I was setting that point 8 miles away as my starting point. I guess you only have route creation via me setting a starting and ending point? Am I missing something, surely you have a way to route to a point from where I am, how do I do that?

I understand you are specifically referring to creating the Route on the fly by searching for the address. We call this feature by the term "Offline Route creation". As per the current implementation, if you have the route loaded on the Karoo and the offline maps downloaded, you would not need the internet connection for navigation. However, if you wish to navigate by creating a route on the Karoo (offline route creation) or search by address then it's not added right now as we are working on it currently.

This is something already in our Product Roadmap and we expect to explore this feature completely somewhere down the line.

We have kick-started our bigger offline Routing project with Route to Destination (Offline), Route to start, and Take me Home (POI) features.

For complete details, please go through these links:

Thank you for your answer, Now that we have clarified what the Karoo can and can't do, I agree that what I am looking for is what you're describing and not yet on the Karoo. I do thank you for your time, forgive my skepticism, I did own a Karoo 1 and making it work with my power meter was being worked on by the team there the entire time I owned it, which is why I bought an Edge 530 in the first place. The Karoo 2 seems to behave perfectly with my power meter, YAY! But the Karoo 2 is now competing with that Edge 530, which is a very feature rich and completely stable device.

The 530 can route to a destination with that Yelp app, and I am about to move, so that feature is really important to me. I don't know the area that I'm moving to. About 30 days left in my return window, so we will see if the feature is implemented before then. I can get by all the other idiosyncrasies of the Karoo, but I thought navigation was its thing when I bought it. But that's GPS navigation 101.
