Karoo 2 Ride App Kept Rebooting, Froze After Cafe Stop, Went To 0% Battery A Few Hours Later
AnsweredHi,
I received a notification this morning about a software update, so I accepted the notification and the device performed the update.
I later added a new profile to try out customizing data screens as until now on my two rides so far I had used one of the built in ones. There was nothing particularly special about mine but I did use the max 10 allowed data fields on my page. Also added one Map page.
Late in the day I went for a group ride and used my new profile to start the ride. As we started off, I immediately noticed that at unpredictable intervals, but usually pretty soon, the ride page would quit and take me back to the home screen, without any button presses or screen touches by me. If I clicked the same profile again from the home screen, I was back in the ride. I think it was still recording in the background but I'm not 100% sure. This continued for about 10 miles to our cafe stop. though the frequency decreased. I forgot to pause or anything at the stop but I think it auto-paused and when we started back, the screen was dark. I hit the power button to start it back up, it was still on the ride page but the sensor related fields like power, heart rate etc were blank. I pedaled a bit thinking the sensors would register again, before realizing the screen was frozen and not responding. After hitting a few buttons here and there an alert popped up saying the app was not responding and did I want to abort (can't remember the exact wording). I gave up in disgust and just rode back. Luckily I was recording in parallel on my Garmin watch, so didn't lose the ride file.
Now a few hours later on trying to turn on the device, I find that the battery is 0%.
So needless to say, a very disappointing experience on my third ride so far. Are any of these a known bug? Are there known workarounds when any of this happens?
Thanks.

After restarting once I got enough battery, it stayed for a while on a wait screen saying "Recovering your ride...", then said something like "Finished recovering your ride" and back to the normal home screen.
Looking at the ride in the Rides section, it looks like it kept recording until I got home in my car. Thus giving me a much longer distance and much higher average speed than I actually did on my bike. And the ride is on my device but have tried multiple refreshed but does not appear on the Hammerhead dashboard. No idea if there is any way to force it to be sent there, so I can include the ride file in any support ticket.
Not exactly confidence inspiring.
Thanks.

Hi Saad, Indeed this does not sound like an experience we would want. Thank you for keeping us updated through the process. This is not a known issue or anything that is affecting several users. However, I would like to see why it happened on your ride. I see that you have raised a ticket with us as well. I will follow up on the same and let others know of our findings here.
