Yeah, there seems to be various issues to do with elevation reporting. Lots of posts on here about it lately.

Here's an earlier one from me:

    https://support.hammerhead.io/hc/en-us/community/posts/1260801743149-Dashboard-Inconsistent-elevation-reporting

Also lots of posts by indoor riders about elevation gain on Zwift and the like. I think anybody would struggle to achieve ~2000 ft of climbing in South Holland District!

What makes this matter worse is that the Karoo 2 reports different values across different screens in the HH Dashboard. The ride summary screen displays completely different values to the ride drilldown screen. You would really expect it to use the same data point, wouldn't you?

With regards the elevation moving at your desk, it's probably worth manually calibrating the elevation using https://whatismyelevation.com for now just to rule out an issue with automatic elevation calibration.

I have also observed the elevation moving up and down at my desk but it is only generally +/- 2m maximum.

That's the strange thing I did manually calibrate it and it was set to manual in the settings when it was moving up and down sat on the desk.

Hi Dan, thank you for the details of your ride experience. A jump of 70ft does seem inaccurate and too aggressive. Could you please share the serial number of your Karoo 2 and the video in an email to us support@hammerhead.io? We would like to see if the barometer is functioning as it should.

Elevation in general seems an issue for Hammerhead. I live in Austria with some more mountains than the colleagues in the dutch mountains. Compared to my Garmin Fenix 5 and route planning in Strava or Komoot, the elevation calculation is always about 2x in my Karoo 2.

The actual elevation tracking seems to be more on the spot. Last ride tracked 926m gain on Karoo 2 and 918m on the Fenix 5. Seems ok.

So the main issue for me is that calculations in route planning is only an educated guess and needs to be divided by 2. ;-)
