Turning off device during ride failed
PlannedI was visiting a friend yesterday and while I was there I wanted to limit battery drain so I turned the unit off (after pausing the ride, not stopping).
I turned it back on after the visit and wanted to continue my ride + route.
The unit started up with a message "Recovery ride data" which I thought sounded good, but then my ride data was gone and no route was selected.
So how is this intended to work or is this even supported (turning off during a long break)?
Thanks.

I can't comment on this issue, but you can stitch two FIT files together using a site like:
https://www.fitfiletools.com/#/top
In that way you can still have one upload for your ride. For sure the device should be able to properly resume ride after it has been turned of for a while.

Hi all - Just wanted to confirm that this is expected behaviour as of now. It will not prompt you to continue the recording after a shut down/restart. We know the value behind it, especially on longer rides and Bikepacking, we haven't received many requests to prioritise over another feature request.

So far I have not lost any rides when I have taken breaks on a ride with the K2. Last week I stopped for a 45 minute beer & pizza break with no issues losing the ride, shorter breaks as well. Sometimes I turn the screen off (which is a bit more complicated since the last update) sometimes I leave it on.

I really would like to have this option.
Last wekk I did a long ride with a pause of 3 hrs. As I had the battery-save-mode active, the karoo didn´t responded to "display off". It woke up seconds later...
After turning off the battery-save-mode, the display stays dark. But turning the device off and contunue riding afterwards woud be best.

I want this feature urgently....the battery is a real issue for me....I've been on a two rides where the battery has died on me, once because of super fast battery drain, and another because it was a long ride where we stopped for beers near the end and poor battery life that drains away because you cant turn it off or you will lose your data

Last Saturday I also did a break of an hour (Pizza + Beer) and the K2 was doing things during the break (just put it on the table) so that turning off the screen did not help as well, as the "rerouting" always forced the screen to turn on again. It seemed this drained the battery by 10% which is annoying if I think of rides > 150km with a couple of breaks etc. - There must be a proper standby / better battery management!
What would be the right way to handle this with the current functionality? Just leave it on while the ride+navigation is paused? Or do I need to do anything else - want to ensure that I at least avoided unnecessary battery drain as much as possible!
I really expect some robustness especially if I turned (or it died due to low battery) the K2 off during a paused / non-paused ride to continue. Just losing everything is so ignorant, to be very honest! We are living in 2022 and every electronic device has a recovery function to ensure the valuable data is NOT lost! Cannot understand this, sorry. And I also do not understand that this must be requested by users as from my perspective this is a very basic feature every navigation system MUST HAVE!
And I know how this works! I also work in the software industry but certain features do not need to be justified...

The original topic of this request (ability to turn off the device without losing the ride data/stopping the ride) has been resolved some time ago, I've successfully switched off the K2 many times now without losing data.
Obviously it should also behave during pauses, but I'd suggest opening a new topic for that issue.

Thank you! Will try this out - from a lifecycle management perspective it would be great if such messages (if something gets delivered/fixed by hammerhead etc.) will be reflected in the status of the post or with a statement of the product/development team ;) Good messages should be emphasized!
