Beeper not working for turn by turn

I have the turn by turn alert on, yet the beeper is not sounding before any turn.  Is there a volume setting or mute function?

  You may have disabled the beeper in the quick settings menu, available when swiping down from the top of the screen during an activity?

  Must have been something like that.  I went for a ride after writing my last post, and the beeper was working just fine...

  Think I have it now.  I've been careful about the quick settings - I think I accidentally turned the beeper off. It hasn't happened since. I'm also careful about the turn-by-turn notifications - want to keep them on. Thanks, guys for your help!
