Route Names as Ride Names
AnsweredIs there a way to have the Route Name as a default ride name instead of "Morning activity"?
I love that there is already something in the text field as a default - especially if I just go on a ride without a route. But most of my rides are planned and I have then difficulties to re-enter the exact route name to identify which rides are which routes.
Thanks in adcance

Hey Frank,
Thanks for posting :)
We do have a few other users who have requested improvements on the same lines. We have put it across to our team for their reference and based on the popularity and priority of the suggestion, it can possibly be pulled into the next UI/UX overhaul :)

Hi!
I was told months ago, that it will come. So many updates and stilll not implemented this feature, which should be quite easy. Just copy paste the name of the planned route. It’s already on the device… it’s annoying, that I need to update the name of the ride every time on several platforms, after K2 uploaded them.
Thanks

Exactly... I mean, all the data from Komoot, Strava, or wherever you have build your route is there. Even the name is already in the dashboard. So why wouldn't this just be copied and taken as suggestion for the ride, instead of morning ride or so..
There could still be the option in the settings to choose if the route name is taken as ride name, or not.

It would be configurable somehow with any predefined arguments... My idea for naming rides with routes will be a simple "YYYYMMDD_<route_name>". And also, when renaming manually, if it could be possible, able resync to accounts like strava, in order not to have to go to your external account and manually renaming it.
Thanks, regards.

I am also looking for this simple fix. Please pick this low-lying fruit and put it in the basket for us.
How hard will it be to just copy the route name over to the ride description? There would probably be less code to copy the route name as the ride description that having the currently useless ride names of "Morning Ride" or "Afternoon Ride."

Jeroen, Totally agree with the need use the last route name as the ride name.
Since we already have the date/time in the summary date for the ride, and since date/time is already displayed on the summary screen, how would you feel, in the name of simplicity, if we just had the route name used as the default ride name? That request would be simpler to implement since there would be no need to add a configuration screen. It should just be a one-line change to the end-of-route logic. -
Hi David,
yes only a boolean "override ridename with route name" is the leanest solution. Fallback on the current default when no route selected.
The enum was just an example for how easy it could be. I read that some users like the combination of a date in the ridename (so not only in the details).
