Custom "Data Card" Layouts

The Workout data cards need work to make them more useful. A short step would be allowing customisation of the data fields using the same layout.

I prefer training to %FTP but only get absolute Power as my target for intervals.

A simple layout builder would allow users to develop these and share to the Karoo community once the layout have been checked.

Another thing that is essential for me is selecting the text size of Workout data fields. I get big current power data but the target data is too small. If I could choose the balance between them, they would take up the same space, but I get to select the actual size. As an aging rider, I need bigger text for some fields, I only need reading glasses due to age, it's a fact of life sadly.

In short, allow the community to engage in developing Karoo, a lot of motivated and useful people out here given the chance.

Spot on, John. If the data cards were set up to consist of "building blocks," then Hammerhead could roll out a custom data card builder to allow users to build their own screens out of building blocks. This functionality should be rolled out through a website (i.e., not just a phone app or on the K2 itself), as it would be so much easier and faster to build screens on an actual computer compared to doing so on a phone or the K2.

    Hi Karoo Community,
the silence on Workout data cards development if deafening.

All I want is access to the Workout Data, ie target power Watts (upper and lower range), target %ftp (upper and lower range), LAP time of interval (counting down not up), target Heart Rate (upper and lower range).

These simple fields are being read by the workout card but to which the user has zero access. Instead we are left with the Karoo implementation which looks pretty but has so many issues that make it very frustrating in use. The target power data has very small text ( can't read target power when working hard) and the LAP timer is faint because the text is not bold.

While others will love the graphical design, I simply want access to large text so I can actually read the workout metrics I need to see. It's obvious there is zero interest in developing the cards further (Hey Chris Froome might be interested as his eyes age) and since the text on some fields is too small to read, I'm asking for access to the data and I'll make my own card using the screens you have already given us. Sure no graphical representation of the workout, pity, its great, but i can swipe back to that if i want. Once I'm in a set of tough intervals, I want big text ( for ALL DATA) and the current Workout card is lacking this critical detail.

Just add the metrics we need so we can create our own workout data card instead of being stuck with somebodies vision of what works from their desktop perspective.

I agree with the comments of James G and John Houlihan, regarding the lack of customizable data cards in the Karoo 2.

I am very disappointed with my Karoo 2 purchase and wish I had not purchased it. It does not have the functionality I need in a GPS computer. I have been using a Lezyne Mega C GPS. The Lezyne allows the user, through its app, to select from a variety of blank data card templates. After selecting a template, the user can then select the data to display in each field of the template. As the Karoo 2 is touted to be the most advanced bike computer, I figured it surely would have the same capabilities of the Lezyne and then some.

I recommend the Hammerhead programmers have a look at the Lezyne. It's display customization is easy to understand and easy to set the fields to display. The customization could be a global setting or both global and custom for each bike's (I have 4) power device.

All I need in a display during a ride is a clock (time of day), cumulative distance, current speed (not average), grade, cadence (not average cadence), power (not average power), and ride duration.

Regarding maps: unless I'm riding somewhere away from home, I don't need a map for my rides, as I know where I'm going. However, it would be fantastic to be able to label a ride and set segments with the time in each segment available on the web after the ride is saved.  This would be useful for my "at home" rides as well as rides done while travelling.

Hammerhead touts its ongoing updates, so make good on your promise and push an update that provides what I and other users want and need.
