Using VoIP for calling

If I were to side load Whatsapp or Signal app to the Karoo 2 and connect my Bluetooth headphones with mic, will I be able to call through VoIP? If no, any other solution for calling with the Karoo 2?

  At this time it is not possible to make phone calls from Karoo 2 - neither through sideloaded apps or SIM card. I hope this clarifies.

  I read in another post that the Karoo 2 can support the microphones in headphones. Therefore, I figured it would be possible to use Skype or whatever to call over the internet (since it has 4G connectivity) and not through the 'regular' cellular network.

  But you´re saying that something like Skype won't work?

  Just thought I'd chime in.  Dakota mentioned that it's not possible to make phone calls through the SIM.  I placed a call to the number on the SIM that I inserted into the Karoo 2.  It showed up as a 'missed call'.  I was able to return the call while connected to the Karoo 2 with a set of bluetooth headphones.  Worked flawlessly.  Note that there is NO dialer app, or way of placing a call, but it would be very easy to implement.
  
  It would be nice to be able to have a pop up to be able to respond with a customizable 'canned response' ...whether that be while using a SIM card, or being connected via bluetooth to my phone with the companion app.
