Cannot enter maximum heart rate for "Percentage of max HR" field?
AnsweredOn my Polar watch I always use the "percentage of max heart rate" to display my current heart rate during an exercise. I was glad that the Karoo 2 also supports this data field.
However, I did not find any way to enter my maximum heart rate. I guess the maximum heart is calculated based on age, weight and whatever. But the calculated value seems to be to low for for me, compared to my Polar watch the value displayed on the Karoo is always a few percent below the value from the watch.
Please make it possible for a user to edit his maximum heart rate. Otherwise the "Percentage of max HR" data field is not a reliable indicator!

My understanding is that the maximum heart rate is based on the maximum heart rate during the current ride, rather than some algorithm (typically 220 - age, in basic terms).
So, if you reach a max of 160 bpm during your ride then that will be taken as the value of your maximum heart rate and percentages will be calculated based on that value. If you subsequently increase your max HR to, say, 180 bpm during the same ride, then all the percentage values will be adjusted accordingly using 180 bpm as the max HR.
At least, that is the mental model I have on how it works, currently.

That can't be true. When I start a ride the displayed value is more or less in the right area, say 50% of max HR. If it would display the current percentage of the max HR during THIS ride it would be close to 100% at the start.
And besides, such an display would be completely useless from the training viewpoint ;-)

I must admit, this is not something I have explored very much on the Karoo and the online help is extremely vague on this subject. I have not found any help topics that describe how this works or is calculated.
What you say makes sense and it would effectively prevent the Karoo from being used a a training aid.
Hopefully somebody from Hammerhead will be along shortly to explain how it works...
