Auto switch between day and night mode

Hi guys,

It is great that we have now choice between two modes (and the day one is really growing on me) but I think it would be even greater if these modes would automatically change. I know that both Karoos do not have light sensor but I think that it could be addressed simply by using information about sunsets and sunrises (I think old Garmins worked that way).

  It would also be nice to have a switch screen mode toggle button on the pull-down quick access menu. Then a rider can easily switch during a ride to see which provides the best visibility during that ride.

  Big thumbs up on this one! It would be even better if it also gradually adjusted brightness depending on time of day. 
  It would be best if one could still manually set brightness, but the karoo would just apply a multiplier to this brightness depending on time of day. E.g one sets brightness to 80% at lunch and then rides into the sunset, the karoo would gradually reduce brightness to 0.5*80%=40% and vice versa when starting early.

  In my opinion this would kind of make up for the missing brightness sensor on the karoo.

  As long as auto brightness, based on time of day, was optional. It sounds good in theory but I wouldn't want to be fiddling with it if it was too bright or but enough.

  Hi all,

  Thanks for the great suggestions! We have had great feedback surrounding the new light mode - many people like it, and some community members have asked for a quicker way to toggle between the 2 modes, as well as an option for swapping automatically at sunset/sunrise times. There is currently no timeline for this addition, but we are watching these suggestions and it may be something our Product Team is able to implement in future updates if the demand is high. 

  The auto-variable brightness would be cool but would be more complicated without the light sensor in that there are many factors beyond the time of day that impact how bright the screen needs to be. 

  Keep great ideas like these coming - many new features or improvements start out this way!

  I would love a quick way to switch between light and dark in the pull down menu like Tom suggested.  Digging through folders to find the switch is tedious while on a ride.

  I would also love to see this implemented. The option for an auto switch on sunrise/sunset does not seem too complicated (since Karoo can already access these times to show them in a data screen). At least an easier way for switching would be awesome. I really love both modes but only when used during the right time. The complex changing mechanism always leaves me horrified when changing mid ride. Also, it seems that this option is standard for both mobile systems and competitor devices!

  Is there still no timeline for this feature?

  Awesome! Already really happy that we can switch between modes in the new control center now! Auto change remains the cherry on top.
