Some feedback & ideas
AnsweredHey all,
While being super happy with my Karoo2, I have noticed a couple of things that might be nice to have in an upcoming update. So, here just some feedback from my side:
1) Having to update routes on the Dashboard prior the ride is a bit annoying. It woulc be great if the Karoo2 could just fetch the most recent routes itself, I don't understand why I have to do this on the Dashboard first.
2) When creating new ride profiles, it would be great to have an option to start with an existing one. The profiles I created are often not completely different and I would be much faster in creating them, if I would not have to start from scratch for every profile, but could use an existing one as a base.
3) I think there is a lot of dead space when displaying the infos during a ride. On the one hand, if one could adjust the heights of the fields better, it would could leave more space, e.g., for the map. Also an adjustable font size would be sick. In my main MTB profile, I have two fields on top with speed and distance. Then the upcoming elevation profile and below the map. And there is just so much wasted/dead space, mainly from the upper two fields, that could create so much more space for the map underneath.
4) Maybe it is just an impression, but I have the feeling in all my rides the "upcoming elevation" is around 50m or so ahead of me.
5) Maybe I just did not find it, but if there would be a way to show this small "permanent direction" sign within the map but NOT the big direction band that is using half of the maps space (if the map is small) would be cool. At the moment I turned navigation off and just follow routes, which works totally fine. But seeing the small where to turn inside the map, would be nice.
That's it for now. Keep up the good work, I enjoy using the Karoo2!
Best,
Manuel

Got my Karoo today and I have similar thoughts. Especially with the dead space thing. There is so much wasted space on the maps page. I am really hesitant to use 4 datafields on the page as I really would like to because of this - and on such a big screen I feel like I should really not be worried about screen real estate.
And while setting up my pages I really would have loved an option to just duplicate another profile I created before, since I really only wanted to edit 3 datafields for the other profile. As I am used to on my Garmin ;)
And for the synchronization of the routes: A simple "sync" button exactly like on the workouts page would be great, and should be easy enough to implement? :)
Cheers!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and adding your feature requests here. We appreciate you taking the time to do so.
1) We do have plans to import a Route directly to Karoo 2 without the involvement of the Dashboard and we are in the process of scoping out numerous ways to do that. As of now, the Routes on the Dashboard will be automatically synced to the unit with an active internet connection.
2),3) and 5) Thank you for your valuable insights and suggestions. We have shared these with the Product team and you can expect some improvements in the future.
4) With regards to the issue with the upcoming Elevation graph, could you explain the issue in detail? We haven't received similar reports from other users and we would like to know more about the issue you are facing.
Could you check this article and see if you see any unusual behavior against this article that clearly mentions how the upcoming Elevation graph works? Elevation Graphs -
Hi Kari,
With regards to 4), I have to admit it is more a feeling that I got while riding on MTB trails 3-4 times last week. But my feeling was even though the actual geo location & navigation was relatively precise, the upcoming elevation graph was just always a little bit ahead of me. Meaning that elevations to come I have already climbed. Unfortunately, it really is more of a feeling, it's hard to quantify and maybe the elevation isnt even that precise on a MTB scale of only a couple of 10m, I don't know. It could also be that the graph just does not display it precise enough, optically I mean, since it is always on a km scale, but I am comparing to maybe 50m or so. So, if nobody reported something similar so far, maybe don't worry too much.
Best,

Yeah, another vote for a refresh button in the route list that would fetch new routes from third-party sites the same way as pressing the reload icon on the dashboard (does not have to be fully automatic in my opinion).
In fact, doing reload on the dashboard is the main use case I have found for the Firefox that I have sideloaded on my Karoo 2 (it's still marginally more convenient than switching back and forth between devices, especially with the right page as the default in the browser...)
As for #5, I'd like to be able to hide navigation cues altogether for a while by making swiping the cue all the way down persistent until swiping it back up again. With 4 data fields in the map view, the map remaining in view is too small to be of any use for temporary wayfinding when the bottom half is constantly obscured by a "Rerouting..." message.
