Feature request: Garmin Varia Turn lights off temporarily

Is it technically possible to turn on the Garmin Varia light when a vehicle approaches and turn it off when the road is clear again? I think you can save battery power.

  I requested this function from Garmin when they launched the first radar back in 2015. They told me something like that for security, the light should always be on....

   

  But that is not true, vice versa. Garmin allows you to keep the radar on and the light off (battery life is greatly extended), and for those of us who now do Gravel on long routes or go by BTT through forests or roads with hardly any traffic, it would be much more interesting if turn on in the event that it detects a vehicle! If Hammerhead can do it by software (which I understand is easy to program), it would be fantastic and a plus compared to the Edge! Something like intelligent Eco Mode or similar!

  it is possible in Garmin but not natively.

  In the end it is a matter of software and not of the Garmin Varia itself. Just as you can turn the light on and off manually from the control panel, so let the "software" do it intelligently for you.
