Karoo 2 stuck in Fastboot loop
AnsweredI turned on my Karoo 2 after around 4 months of not using it so had, unsurprisingly, several updates that needed loading. All went well until the final update when instead of rebooting normally, I have a white screen that states "Fastboot Mode. Autorestart in 60 seconds".
When it does reboot, it returns to the same Fastboot screen. If I perform a hard reset (buttons B, C and D), it also reboots to the Fastboot screen. If I hard reset to get to the recovery screen, it still goes to the Fastboot screen. It's an unrecoverable loop.
I'll have to wait until the battery runs down, but how do I proceed if the Karoo 2 still does the same thing after re-charging please?

Hey Bernie!
Thank you for posting.
I understand that being stuck in a fast boot loop and not being able to power up the device is not an experience you would want to have, and I therefore would like to work with you on this case.
To make sure we have all aspects looked into and to also offer you the best solution, I have written to you at your email address. It would be great if you could please help by sharing the details requested over the email and also share your observation.

I bought my Karoo 2 one week ago and after loading maps etc was able to use it for a ride that I downloaded from a bike club on Easter Monday. This morning I turned it on expecting to use it for a ride that I was creating on this dashboard but all it did was display the K and two horizontal stripes sliding left to right and nothing further and did not respond to any buttons. I was not able to use it and after 4 hours it still showed the K and moving lines. After reading in the Help Articles that pressing B/C/D would restart it I tried that and it worked only to find I had lost everything that had taken me hours last weekend to get started. It is now still downloading the maps which it had stopped doing after switching itself off.
Is locking up a common problem? If it is and losing everything in a restart is the only way of solving the problem then it is going to have to be returned and I'll have to try the competition!

Timothy, I feel this issue is out of character for the Karoo. I’m an early adopter from the beginning of Karoo 1. I’m on Karoo 2 now. Never had a problem over these past few years. This issue has me perplexed. I hope Hammerhead hasn’t bricked devices with their latest software update!
