Heart rate monitor won't reconnect mid ride
AnsweredGot my Karoo 2 last week and so far I'm pretty happy with it, but it does not handle reconnecting sensors very well.
My heart rate monitor is a Polar H10 that is connected via Bluetooth. The heart rate monitor strap will every now and then get in an uncomfortable position. I usually just sit up and adjust the strap by pulling the monitor to the left and right and, hey presto, comfort is once again achieved. This sometimes causes the monitor to lose contact with the skin, and then the Karoo complains that it doesn't receive any heart rate data. The biggest problem is that it won't reconnect afterwards. On the data screen, as well as the "Sensors" page, it says "Searching", but it never finds it.
Last ride i opened the sensors page and added the heart rate monitor as an ANT+ device and, lo and behold, now my heart rate was displayed again. This is not really best practice though, fiddling in menus while riding feels a tad bit to adventurous for my taste.
What if, next time, I take a break and my power meter turns itself off?
Is it a bug? Is it working as intended? Am i doing something wrong? Should i use ANT+ rather than Bluetooth?

Hi Jan,
I was able to check the ride information from the last ride and I see 3 disconnections during the activity when you were not riding. I also see that you had previously connected the heart rate monitor via Bluetooth. And if a single sensor is connected via Bluetooth and ANT+ at the same time, it might interfere with the heart rate readings.
I would recommend you reset your heart rate sensor once and pair it again with the Karoo 2 via ANT+ only. Below are the general steps to reset the Polar H10:
- Remove the battery.
- Press the metal snaps that attach to the strap with your fingers for at least 10 seconds.
- Wait 30 seconds and then put the battery back in.
After the reset, you need to pair the sensor with your devices again. I also recommend you check the heart rate strap if there is any damage and if there is no corrosion around the metal parts of the strap & pod.
I also found the Polar H10 user manual which could come in handy for you.
These steps would help you to improve the connectivity but if you are still facing issues then please directly write to us at support@hammerhead.io and we will be happy to assist you.

On todays ride i had it connected via ANT+ only, since i didn't change the settings back after that other ride when it didn't want to reconnect. It seemed to work fine today and not once did i see the display say "searching", but you can see on the fit-file that it did in fact lose connection when i stopped to shed layers, get food, etc?
I'll reset the strap and pair it as an ANT+ sensor for the next ride. It is a bit puzzling though, i was under the impression that Bluetooth is preferred over ANT+, but maybe i has been misinformed?
