Garmin Varia turns off when the Karoo runs out of battery

My K2 ran out of battery on my last ride and it appears it stopped my Garmin Varia light from blinking.

From a safety perspective, I would expect the Varia to keep operating in its predefined state if the K2 runs flat.

Has anyone else noticed this?

  It's a 'feature' of the K2.

  I like to start and end my K2 activities away from my house for added privacy but it means no Varia operation to and from the start and end points which can involve several main roads. The February 23rd update added a toggle to disable automatic switching on and off but it forfeits the ability to completely operate / adjust the light from the head unit during a ride.

  So you either have full automation and the light is off when no ride is active or when the K2 battery runs out, or you disable automation and the Varia stays on at all times even if the K2 battery dies but you have to interact directly with the light during a ride if you want to change flash modes etc.
