Strava equipment selection and Activity Fix support needed

I suffered the same fate when switching from a Garmin to Karoo2. The FIT file does actually contain device info, I checked a ride and the last record (device_info) had both power meter and HR mon details. The issue is that ActivityFix needs an API to access this data and to date, HH haven't provided one. there was mention by them that this would be useful over a year ago, but still we wait.... I get around it in Activity fix to an extent by creating rules that look at where I start/stop rides, or where I go. I can thus differentiate consistently between commuter, racer and gravel bikes...  eg if a ride starts or stops at work, I've commuted and the bike will 99% time be the commuter.

    I think I agree.

The whole problem can be fixed if HH passes the “gear” into the Strava API. Seems like that’s the easiest for everybody.

Very early in the K1’s life, it did this. Then either Strava or HH or both changed something and it broke and hasn’t worked since.

Quick reply to support this topic.

I use multiple bikes (race, gravel, mtb, ebike) and with my Garmin head unit, I've used ActivityFix to set the correct equipment type for the Strava Activity. This works perfectly as the bikes differ in which sensors are present (power meters/cadence/speed). This helps to keep track of the total distance per bike for maintenance as well as just to keep a nice overview.

Parsing sensor information to Strava would enable ActivityFix support although the suggestion to directly send the selected gear (in the HH head unit) to Strava would also work.

Agree completely. It’s to the point now that I record each ride with both my Garmin Watch and the K2 but I only upload the Garmin Watch version.

HH could also fix this by using the Strava API and writing the bike/equipment type directly (which is ultimately what activityFix does).

Will this be supported by Hammerhead at any time?

I sure hope so. I switched last fall to a Garmin Edge 1040 because of the battery capacity of the K2 had been an ongoing problem and mine was losing further capacity due to age (it was one of the earliest K2’s). Getting back into the Garmin ecosystem got my ActivityFix gear selection working again.

I’d like to go to a K3 given that the battery capacity is marginally better, I’m not willing to even look at it until ActivityFix is supported. With 4 bikes, it’s just too much manual record keeping.

Can we assume this is now available? The guy at intervals.icu has added HH login and I can see my ride data directly, importantly stuff like power meter make/model. Juste need Activity Fix to add it.
