Elevation Erros

As the elevation errors seem to persist after two years of promises it will get resolved why don't you offer an option to take the elevation from the base maps rather than using the altimeter?  It is really frustrating that all of the rides on the dashboard and the device show up with incorrect information, even if Strava is "corrected"

  But elevation is fine when you will load route. It seems to be only going bananas where there is nothing loaded.

  @Dan Mar my elevation was worse with a route loaded. Karoo said 1400m while real elevation was 300m. Without route loaded it was 1000m for exact same ride.

  Ah and I am complaining about my x2, only x2 elevation. Well look like elevation problem have many faces.

  The elevation data in Openstreetmap isn’t exactly reliable either. (Varies a lot, of course.)

  I think elevation is taken from maps and errors are due to inaccurate calibration of DEM files in openstreetmaps. there is a flat road near my home and everytime i ride through climber pops up showing a climb of 94mt while the road is absolute flat. the barometric altimeter is spot on and doesn't change, even the current grade indicates 0%. but magically i gain 94mt of ascent.

  My record is 12988 m of ascent for a metric almost-century that Strava (auto)corrected to 243 m, only 53 times actual. Can anybody top that?
