karoo2 overall perfomance
Some thoughts about the karoo2 performance in terms of reaction times when any function is called. So what i note is that the karoo2 is extremely slow when i want to do anything.
An example: I start up the device, which is done at a not so short time. Starting up an android phone is faster, even an old one!
When its time to get a GPS, time changes from (rare cases) 1 minute up to 10 minutes! Doesnt matter where i am! So most times i start from home and in the early karoo2-times (3 years ago), GPS was available in a really short time. Always! Today when i have a short ride (about 3-4kms), i reach back home and karoo2 still didnt find any GPS!
So i am thinking of a software bug! Any other GPS-enabled device gets GPS at the same place fast, which means nearly instantly!
Whenever i end a ride, i am looking on a spinning wheel up to 30-40 seconds, which is way too long! To end the ride without storing it needs more than a minute, up to 2 minutes! Why?
You had a setting previously, which disabled the auto-storing of rides. Why did you remove it? In this times ending a ride was tapping "End", confirm that end (Why confirm that?) and i was done. All in terms of short time.
Now i have to tap "end" - "confirm" - "trash" - "trash", and all these button-taps with looooooong waiting times!
So please make the overall performance faster, and this way remove that big bunch of (in my opinion) senseless confirmations! To give another sample of senseless button-taps: Shutting don the device: Loooooooooong press to shut-down, then "confirm shutdown". Why? So a loooooong press is never unintentionally!
Another sample of the slowness of the device: When i am having a ride active and pause, i tend to shutdown the karoo2, due to the extensive power-draining. So i am still riding!
When i start up again (still active riding) i have to confirm that i am riding, wait a long time to restore the ride, then i have to start the (still never ended) ride, again with waiting time. So a quick start-up and start riding is impossible! And if i forget to tap start, after again long time i get beeps to start my ride (which never has ended before).
So please reenable the "Dont store rides at end" to make things faster again and remove the big bunch of senseless confirmations along the device! I am not silly nor unintelligent, but being treated like a windows3-user is a bit strange...

@Fahr
Patience is a virtue:
1) Start-up slow - yes it takes longer than other devices but not all that much longer than a modern phone. I have a Z Fold4 and that takes nearly a minute and you have to enter a Pin at least twice to get in. However, having Android means that HH can update many features.
2) GPS - Have you looked at the Control Center “Devices” Page to see if the GPS is searching or is marked “Red” - Not found?
I am not sure if it constantly continues to search for Satellites or times-out as the other sensors do. I have no problems with this, it is possible your device is faulty. HH uses 4 satellite systems and their Help Page states it is faster that any other device, so….
3) Ride Storing - You are probably pretty much on your own with this one. I cannot see why you would not want to store a ride unless it was a false start. Most systems will make you confirm either “End Ride” or “Delete” in case you make a mistake or changed your mind.
4) Power-Off: This is a 2 second push of the button, please don’t make an issue out of this as far as time goes. The reason for the 2 seconds is that the button has more that one function and the system needs to differentiate.
5) Ride Pause: Why don’t you set the Sleep function (say 5 mins) then you do not have to play around with buttons and Ride Restart? This still uses battery until Sleep and some during Sleep Mode, but unless you always ride until you battery is nearly drained, it will not make a big difference. On starting riding the device wakes up and you do not have to do anything, so a quick start-up is possible if you can accept a couple of % battery drain. I use this and have no problems. Finally, considering the advantages of Android, I do not think too many users will be passionate about your time complaints. For the button taps and confirmations, it’s once at the end of ride and again I think you will pretty much on your own. I have never even thought about it.

Sad comments, Fahr had at least 4 major rants. Many of the moans were pure rubbish (including most here regarding response times), others solvable by reading the Help or checking online and understanding the K2. Some minor points may be valid, but not worth HH looking at if the expected K3 is hopefully on the way. (Although it is now coming into winter for it's major customer regions, so will it come soon?)
The K2 is 3 years old and any Tech is out of date by the time it gets to the customer. As for an Android upgrade, it would cause an immense testing effort and would not be viable. With a phone, the onus is on the App Developers to test, HH would itself have to test all sensors etc. As HH are still issuing updates, it is still doing it's job.
Fahr obviously wants a GPS based solely on his requirements which no one is going to supply. Riding must be a misery.
For me the K2 is by far the best navigation device, which is my main reason for buying a GPS, far better than Garmin and also Wahoo with it's tiny (non-touch) screen and the kiddie phone buttons.

When the OS isn't support by the developers anymore it's time for an upgrade. Software turns over, EOL is common in this space. Unless you're an Alibaba after market kit, you have to plan for this and at least stay with the current minimally viable product.
It used to be a fairly equal tossup with Garmin the Edge xx30 series but now it's solidly in behind Garmin (40 series), but in front of Lezyne, CatEye, Sigma and Wahoo.
