Varia Radar Light control with Pause
I currently have my Varia Radar sensor set to "Auto Control" so the unit wakes up when I start my ride and goes back into stand-bye when I end my ride.
I would like to have this feature expanded so that when I pause my ride the radar unit either goes into stand-bye or disables the light. This would be useful when stopping for a coffee break or other such ride breaks.
It would also be useful to turn off the light when "Auto-Pause" is active so the light would turn off when I'm waiting at a light so I don't blind other riders coming up behind me.

I too have my Varia Radar as well as my Varia headlight set to auto pause.
My radar functions the way you described- My headlight functions the way you want it too- goes off when i stop for a bit - Coffee etc- Not at a light which i personally would not want- The Radar SHOULD function so that during a long enough stoppage it should turn off- That is how it is described in the karoo 2 instructions/tutorials- but it does not work as the headlight does. Kinda Strange

I have requested for a long time now, the feature where the varia light (in my case the rear light) turns off when you MANUALLY pause a ride (eg cafe stop) and automatically turns on when the ride resumes. I wouldn't want the light to turn off when it auto pauses (Imagine stopping at a junction/set of lights, you'd be invisible at night)
But unfortunately HH are too busy with other "features" and bugs (and it appears there is lack of demand for this feature)

I use the Varia 715 with the camera, not sure what the big deal is for auto on/off // guess I am used to simply turning the device on when I start a ride (like the other devices I use) and then off when at a break to conserve battery. Back when I used a Garmin the “lighting network” feature never worked properly either to control lights and cameras.

For safety reasons, the radar cannot be turned off when you stop at a traffic light, intersection, etc... and auto-pause is activated. The correct way is as indicated by partner Jason. Force the user to pause the activity manually in any case.
Likewise, when I stop at the cafe, it doesn't take much effort from the karoo to turn off the light and screen to save battery. Or directly change the mode from the radar button I think an option that would keep the taillight off and turn on when detecting vehicles would be much more interesting. I would use this on my MTB or Gravel bike during the day when I go on tracks and trails where there is almost no one, and it would not be necessary to keep it on constantly. But don't keep it turned off in case a vehicle suddenly appears.
