    From a review on the new K3 “on the elevation accuracy, Hammerhead has had issues in the past with massive elevation errors. At a media briefing, the company says those issues were specifically related to a manufacturer error in a specific component, for a specific set of units.”

    Chance of buying another Hammerhead product is very remote.  Terrible customer service, burn up 10% of battery life for every 10 miles, awkward user interface.   Looks like I am going back to Garmin.

    Unless of course someone Hammerhead/SRAM actually wants to stand behind their product and fix it or replace it.  But that is pretty unlikely.

    Hammerhead - do you read your customers concerns and stand behind your products or is it that you don't care???

    If your unit is still in the two year warranty you can have it replaced although the elevation discrepancy is a hardware issue a new unit might not resolve the problem.

    I contacted their support and returned my unit with a new one arriving today. I’ve yet to test it but the party line was the elevation problem wasn’t on all units (believe that if you want ) Might be worth a try if you purchased your unit in the last two years.

    @Alan - I assume they are replacing a K2 with another K2, correct?

    So after being increasingly annoyed that my elevation is way off, and reading these comments I decided to get in touch with Hammerhead.  They offered me a replacement for the Karoo2 that has useless elevation readings. "Specific batch" of units as that has been mentioned here. My one year replacement warranty is almost up in June so I was very close to being screwed.

    I am sure I will be getting a remanufactured unit but if it works...we'll see.

    @Paul Izzo for what’s it worth I went through the same thing and took delivery of a new Karoo 2 over a week go. So far every ride has had correct elevation numbers within 1% anyway.

    This is the reply I got from HH when I asked about the component issue “ We were indeed able to identify that the elevation issue was due to a bad components on some units and for the most part, we have been replacing units that have shown the bad elevation data during the ride.

    I can assure you that the replacement unit should surely perform a lot better than your present unit. “

    I returned my unit last Wednesday and waiting for a return on Tuesday. This is the second return. Hopefully it’s a permanent fix.

    I now got notification I’m being charged $140 for customs fees for this return. Getting screwed over by this company left and right. Never buy anything from this company again.

    UPDATE:  Elevation still wrong by nearly 100% overage with the replacement unit?  Specific batch my a$$.

    I have been using the replacement Karoo2 that Hammerhead sent me for my original unit that had horrendous elevation errors.   I am rehabbing a sore knee so I am not climbing like I normally would just doing flat rides and this this is still WAY off.    Rides are still 70-100% higher elevation noted with replacement Karoo2 vs. Strava's elevation correction.   I was told it was only a limited batch.   Pretty sure the are pulling from the same batch for their warranty replacements that have the elevation issue.

    Sounds like they fed me a line BS here.     Your move Hammerhead - can you send me one that actually works?
