1st Ride With My New K(3)
Just completed my 1st ride with my new K(3) K(III).
- Paring of all my sensors, Varia, Speed, Cadence, Power, took maybe a minute, no errors no missed sensors.
- When turning off the Varia on gravel trails then back on for road, no issues at all, paired right up.
- The new screen was so easy to see during the ride, it was very sunny and I was using the “Auto Brightness” feature which seemed to work very well.
- I had a few messages from my phone that beeped and then cleared from the screen, no message got stuck as someone else (I think) reported on their ride.
- I rode 33 miles and use 19% of the battery which would average out to well over a 100 mile ride and I do not ride that far anymore.
- I did not have a route this ride, I was just out riding whatever gravel trail I chose.
- Did I miss anything to review?
Tomorrow I will ride with a planned route from RWGPS and see what changes/issues that might bring.
Overall I am very pleased with the new K3 KIII especially the screen in the sun. Amazing.

My planned route ride yesterday was great, no issue at all and the battery drain was the same as the previous days ride with no route. Meaning there was no significant batter drain.
I need to review the notifications I am getting from my iPhone, too many that are of no interest during my rides .. LOL

This is good news Gerry. I just got my K3 today. the setup went well, but the only sensors that tranferred to the K3 were SRAM ones. The other sensors loaded like yours, without issue.
I only had time to test the upload (Strava, RidewithGPS, Hammerhead, etc), but keeping the K3 on while I did an errand. The uploads went fine, just like the K2.
I'll get out for a short ride tomorrow, and reports back. I can tell just by viewing in the back yard that this screen is much easier to see in the sunlight, than the K2. I hated the matte screen. LOL

Well, I got in a short test ride today. I played with route, re-routing, dropping a pin from the phone, made sure sensors connected, and ride uploaded to Strava, RidewithGPS, etc. Everything worked well during this short test. It was just a test of the basics, but everything went well, except when I went to change the Karoo screen with my shifter buttons.
I use the shifter buttons to change screens when riding in tight or bumpy areas, or when descending. OF course this won't work until Hammerhead decides to release the SDK (no DI2 or other 3rd party tools until the SDK is released).
The other thing to note is that when charging, they moved the button to check the charge level. Yoyu now bress the power button on the bottom, instead of the lower left button. I do like that instead of the tiny charge number that used to display when charging, that the charge % is now large and easy to read.
