Until Hammerhead will develop this feature into the companion app, you can youse 3rd party apps. I tested many of these, and they are really unreliable, but the "HRM Heart Rate Monitor" app by Dominik Maglia is quite good.

Watchlink works pretty well.  It includes an app, and a pod that receives data from watch, and transmits that data to the bike computer.

I use my Garmin HRM, it was just less hassle. I do have a series 5 Apple Watch that I have record my ride(s) as a backup .. OCD is real.

Native support for this is needed!

Have you complained or made a suggestion to Apple?
The onus is on them to broadcast HR not for HH to go and get it.

My Garmin Fenix 7 does this and acts a standard sensor on the K2 (I assume it’s using BLE).

It does, however, look like the Companion App is being extended for the Karoo, but for the K2 it’s very primitive.

Please integrate Apple watch hr. My Garmin does it and Garmin is your biggest competitor so why not Apple watch?

As stated above, Garmin broadcast HR and acts as a standard sensor, Apple doesn’t. Complain to Apple, it’s a typical arrogant Apple attitude!
There are independent Apps apparently, but the snob attitude of Apple persists.
