I should have read this before. In conjunction with no available solution for the embarrassing beeper volume issue, I would have never considered buying a Karoo. I just hope that returning it works even though I have tested it. Very promising device let down by too many flaws and missing commitment/communication. What a shame.

And still, nobody at SRAM/Hammerhead seems to care enough to give us a straight up answer to the question:
Will there ever be an SDK for the 'New' Karoo ?

Hi Florian, We have answered this in a couple of emails before on this long thread. Yes, SDK will be available on the new Karoo, we are working on it, but we don't have a confirmed date for the release.

    Hi Ali,

Must have missed that one, really having problems with the battery of my K2, and holding of on jumping ship (Garmin 1050 or new Wahoo) because I really want the 'new' Karoo to work for me, as Hammerhead has the best GPS routing I can find.

Happy Karoo 2 user. Wanted to buy a Karoo 3 but without the SDK it does not work with my di2. Will go with Garmin because of this. What a pity. Very surprising to see that Hammerhead doesn’t care about the feedback given by their users.

Developers will gain access to Karoo EXTENSIONS on 27 November

Karoo EXTENSIONS is the name of the new Karoo SDK.

    Found on:

Thats fantastic news, thank you HH for listening to your users.

So I'm guessing we just have to wait on Valterc to do some stuff in the background.

Valterc, please let us all know where we can send beer/coffee etc....as thanks!

Oh off topic I know, but if HH can add the same functionality as other head units, with the ability to send a tracking text or email to loved ones, when they start a ride then the new Karoo becomes THE perfect head unit. What are the chances HH?

@Fraser, there is already an external application that allows you to do this from the karoo2.

    https://github.com/oscarpenelo/hh-sms-notificaciones

A SIM card is needed so it only works on Karoo2.

    Looks promising… 👌🏻
@Community: Many thanks for taking action to emphasise the importance of maintaining the chance to dock add-ons onto the Karoo infrastructure!

@HH: Many thanks for taking action and prioritising this topic after receiving this massive feedback!
    113 likes, 8 pages,… that’s a massive statement. And it was to be expected… :-/

How to avoid this in the future? - You may get in touch with your Beta-Tester-Group… if you did so and this feedback wasn’t provided to you: Partially renew the beta-test-group.

@Valterc: Can’t be mentioned enough how grateful most of us are that you put so much efforts in your projects!☕️

    Happy riding to all!

    @Andi Djee: Totally agree.
And now that the Extensions/SDK are here, this is our chance to make the 'new' Karoo even better.
If there is still an Advanced Testing Group (ATG), that would have been really helpful prior to release of the 'new' Karoo, they would have flagged the missing SDK immediately (assuming they got their hands on a pre-release 'new' Karoo to test with).
