    Thanks Jakub Dominik for submitting a solution, this actually worked for me! Didn't even need to re-pair the phone, just changed Android system primary language to English (United States), suddenly music controls appeared in Karoo 3, worked out of the box. Happy to manage this to work, but I assume, for many people, this is not a permanent solution. Hopefully this will be fixed.

    I followed the information provided  and changed the language on my phone from French to English (my Karoo 3 remained in French), and everything immediately started working properly without me having to do anything else. Hammerhead you should look into this.

    If you pause the music on the Karoo, it is impossible to restart it because all the buttons become inactive. You have to go back to the phone to restart it.

    E não é que funcionou mesmo? Aqui no Brasil, mudei para Inglês no Galaxy S10 E no Galaxy S22 Ultra, deixando o Hammerhead Karoo 3 em português! Funcionou perfeitamente. Usando assim, até vocês arrumarem esse bug!!!

    This works! What is strange, is that my Pixel 9 was already in English but location was Romania. When i switch to English/ Us the player controls pop up. Hope this will the fixed in the future

    Wow! It works! I changed the Android language from Polish to English. My location is still set to Poland, but I can see the music controls on my Karoo :) Thank you to my fellow countryman for finding the solution :)

    I am waiting for the official position of support, but I am pleased that I helped myself and the others. Let it be a hint for Hammerhead, so that they test more than just the American version.

    We have identified the bug on the Karoo where the media controls are missing when the phone language is not English. Our software team is investigating the issue and will be rolling out an improvement to this feature in our upcoming software releases. We thank you for flagging this issue with us!

    Same problem for me. Only when I changed the primary language to English (US) it worked! Thanks Jakub! Set primary back to Dutch it stopped working.
    After this tested if you only change the language for the Hammerhead Companion app to English (US) it works also. So primary language to native and app to English (US).

    I had the same problem, and when switching to English language it immediately worked as well.  Thanks for sharing a work around until the bug gets fixed.

    @Jakub Dominik: Yes, testing in other languages is necessary also in other fields. E.g. in the companion app in other languages everything is displayed in English at first, but several seconds after that, the whole display is re-rendered in the selected language (destroying all your previous inputs...) 

    So I switched Karoo to English because it's just faster (and at least the German translation is not good in several cases.)

     

    Good to hear Hammerhead is working on a solution for other languages an smartphones, because media-control is a great Feature!

    PS:

    Mentioning on https://support.hammerhead.io/hc/en-us/articles/41659377165979-Companion-App-Karoo-Media-Player it is only possible in en_US would be really useful for now. At least I tried several other useless ways before noticing it...

    Something stupid: karoo 3 on, YouTube Music on, nothing is detected. If i open Youtube, then the controls for YT Music pops up and everything is working:)

    Hi, still no conection. Phone is Pixel 9 pro with YouTube Music, all permission are granted and i can change music from watch or buds, but my Karoo 3 is not seeing it. If i open the Youtube app immediately the controls for Youtube Music pops and can control everything. Tested today before and after the update :same thing:)

    Again, another huge thankyou to Aishwarya and the team for getting this feature added to the Karoo.  I only wished I could be there and buy you all a morning coffee!

    Love this feature.  Iv setup a page on each of my profiles that gives me all the media controls.  Like others iv had to set language to English US, where as id usually have English New Zealand and that wont currently work.  I can live with that, until the language update comes. 

    Only issue I can see, is that maybe we have an option for the text size for the Now Playing ?  Currently the box is very large with very small text.   Having an option to choose text size would be nice.

    Works! iPhone 16 Pro, English.

    From now on, it’s the best cycling computer ever made. The only feature still missing is Varia radar light control — it should keep the light off until a vehicle is detected. That would save battery life dramatically.
