Sadly, Refund Requested on New Karoo
After two weeks of using the new Karoo, I love the new screen and while the battery life is not Garmin long, the extra time is enough to make me comfortabile. What I am not happy about is the random reboot during rides. It happened twice on one ride last week and again today. Today I also experienced the graphical data field that shows elevation and distance remaining get stuck mid ride. I assume these are software related but the reboot is troublesome as there are not widespread reports. I did contact support and they have been helpful, but I don’t want to wait for fixes to basic functional expectations. For now, I have lost confidence so it’s back to my 1040. Maybe I will repurchase in the future as more user reports come out.

Yikes. Did your K3 resume the ride after the reboot or was the ride lost?
I'm curious if this is the same or similar to the reboot issue with the K2. Were you following a route? What sensors were paired? Phone pairing? From what I recall, the K2 issue was some bug where multiple events triggering the beeper at the same time caused the reboot, for example a simultaneous navigation alert and phone notification.

I was following a route and had my normal sensors paired...HRM, Power, Drivetrain and Light/Radar. My phone was paired for live tracking. I never had this happen with my K2. I have lost the confidence to use this for an event. When it happened yesterday, the FIT file was corrupt. It was added to Strava with a date of 31 December 1989 but worse, I did a big ride yesterday and I cannot use the data to analyze my form for an event in 4 weeks. The analysis software I used thinks I took the day off and now my metrics are all messed up.
I actually posted this yesterday but the post has been in pending approval mode for over 24 hours.....very strange.

@Lee A Dorney
Yes, of course. They were helpful but ultimately I decided to make the decision that I do not want to live with the early adoption issues that arise. Maybe in a year I will try again but with summer race season, I want stability and confidence in my computer.
As I originally stated, I think the screen is much better in the new Karoo and the nav is great. IMO, no other bike computers compare. The new Karoo will do well for the right person, but sadly, it's not right for me at this time.
