Companion App ONLY for Karoo 3????

What is the reason that you created an App ONLY for the Karoo 3?

It could have been so nice if you made it also work for the 2 version.
I'm a Karoo adapt from the beginning and I find it a bit strange that we have to buy the 3 version for using the Companion App. Feels not good in the way that you have an good cadans in updating the Karoo platform but not with creating the easiest solution for updating your created routes to the Karoo with an App. Just only for the 3 version. Shame on you.

    Hi, I'm a K2 user, and when I am in the middle of a ride, I usually make alternative routes on smartphone with the HH dashboard web (https://dashboard.hammerhead.io/) as a chrome webapp in Android, save the new route, and then the karoo synchronises perfectly (wifi or data connection). Maybe it's not exactly as you want or think, but it's pretty easy as well.

    Honestly I prefer the development team concentrate their efforts in improving the create/edit route webpage (blocking pins, making all highways routable, etc.), that it's compatible with every device with a web browser, than making complicated very system dependent apps.

    Fernando, the APP is already created. It is a marketing strategy to give some new functionality to the new model. The same as capping the SDK so that people don't use Shimano.
     After 4 years, they release a "new" almost identical karoo for €500. They have fired all the designers and programmers and now they only have people in marketing, they are great!

    Something tells me that sales are not going to go very well, and it will not be due to investment in marketing and giving away karoos to YouTubers and influencers.

    Users could not be more disgusted with HH...

    Hi ttalonso, I think you are right, probably it's a marketing strategy... surely K2 and K3 can share almost the same specific code and capabilities. Thought I still believe the smartphone app issue that opened this post is not an essential one... but maybe they could made the same for K2 if anyone can be happy with this other method to sync routes. The SDK is the elephant in HH room... sooner or later, they have to open it for K3, or it could happen that K2 users have better software features than K3 because of 3rd party apps, and that is 🤯

    We will talk about K2 v K3 for as long as the K2 batteries last. K1 probably died because of this. We have one or two more seasons left and that's it.

    My Karoo 1 still works fine (and I still like it better than the K2). If the battery dies I will try to find a new one and replace it. 

     

    I am also curious why the companion app is not available for the K3. I won't buy that as long as no SDK is available anyway.
