Glad to hear. When I go on group rides everyone makes jokes about how loud the Karoo is.

    Hi All,

We made changes to the Audio Alerts on the new Karoo. Riders can now toggle between the “New” Audio Alerts or go back to the “Old” Audio Alerts if they prefer those over the new tones. Go to Settings → Audio Alerts to select your Audio Alert preference.
    Thank you!

Try to imagine that you are in a completely quiet place and it beeps so loudly...

I tried the new sounds this afternoon and well…it’s an improvement. The new sounds still seem loud, but are much more “enjoyable. Still don’t understand why the volume can’t be changed.

Is it possible that you can choose from different tones.

I live in a densely populated area and with the radar and the multitone you go completely crazy with this.

It is like i am riding with a music band

Why not a short beep with the radar.

Thanks for this, much better for my needs. I ride 95% mountain bikes so the natural trail noise covers up some of the loudness. I will say that if I was on the road in a small group or solo the volume might be a bit high still. One note, as a diabetic and my alerts for low / high blood sugar go to my Karoo so having the volume up works for my needs. Would be nice to pick which volume level (style) for each different notification but for now this will have to do.

I was a fan of the higher volume and keen to try the update... However, the Varia tones are incessant now, way too many beeps for each alert. Has anyone at Hammerhead actually ridden a bike with the new Karoo on it??? I was out on a group ride and I got fed up of being asked why my computer was making so much noise.

Genuinely I like the louder tones but on busy roads the radar noise is way too much - I had to switch back to the old tones mid ride which is annoying as I liked the variance in different tones for different notifications. Please make the Varia tones loud but minimal in length.

Bumping this thread .It's been 4 months since last post. Has there anything more been done on adjusting sound from the beeper? Is it not possible to code some kind of a slider for the sound? Or maybe add more types of souds, like we have now Old and New?

The problem is not to add a slider (in software) but to have the change reflected by the hardware. It looks as though there is no way to change the loudness (voltage level) of the beeper directly. However, a few suggestions have been made in this forum, and there is a 3rd party extension that "somehow" reduces (perceived?) loudness. The issue is that Hammerhead refuse to apply the (apparently not complex) change themselves and prefer to have us install a 3rd party extension for what could and should be part of the original firmware. This is extremely annoying and disappointing (and one of the reasons why I returned my Karoo).

I am just seeing that HH have marked this thread/request as "completed". Sorry, but this is ridiculous and tells me: we don't care.

As above, changing the frequency of the tone will modify the perceived volume due to the frequency response capability of the internal speaker. My guess is that possibly this may damage the speaker and so Hammerhead prefer that you tick the disclaimer that adding third party extensions may damage your hardware and then absolve themselves of any responsibility for broken internal speakers. In reality the volume in my opinion isn’t too loud but it’s the fact that when using the new tones the radar alert comprises several beeps for each alert and therefore they can be very intrusive in heavy traffic.

Hmm, strange. The topic of this thread is far from over! So it can't be labeled as "Completed".

I still remember my first ride with my new 3.  It was literally the first ride since my accident, and I was not 100% healed yet.

I wasn't 100 ft from my house when my radar went off and I literally almost crashed the tone was SOOOOOO loud it literally made me jump.

I wish I was half deaf and was one of those that need to turn volumes up on things, but I'm not.  Even on the quietist setting HH offers it is still too loud and absolutely ruins riding with other experiences.

I own it, I'll live with it and I just installed the extension last night, so even though my Physical therapist has banned me from the bike for 60 days, I'll test it tonight from my porch on cars going up the street.

    I hope it helps.
