a replacement will not fix it...I got a replacement and it had the same problem...only way it works is to keep it in your back pocket to avoid vibrations at the bars...or get Strava to correct your altitude post ride

Yes a new unit will fix it. Look at my experience. HH has identified the units affected and will replace with a working unit. As for a replacement. https://support.hammerhead.io/hc/en-us/community/posts/26227335076379-100-elevation-accuracy-fix-HW-is-the-cause

I can confirm that a replacement unit will fix the problem.

the working units are the ones from the old batches, those with the old USB plug (they will send you the unit with the new USB plug to install by yourself).

my replacement unit did NOT fix the problem...so it's a gamble..unless they check the units first before sending them

I had mine replaced and the elevation issue appears to be resolved.

The replacement unit I got already had the new plug, so I have no idea which batch I got.

I couldn't care less any more about the elevation issue. It's a small problem as far as trying to enjoy life and cycling as far as I'm concerned.

If you think Hammerhead Karoo 2 is bad for elevation issues, you should see the inflated numbers that a lot of Garmin units post activities.

Just did a ride yesterday with my wife and two other friends who have Garmin 840 and 130.

My K2 posted the ride as 178m. My wife just uses her phone with the Wahoo cycling app and it recorded 126 m. I checked to see what Strava would correct mine to and it changed it to 130m.

My other two friends with the Garmin units recorded over 200m.....and they couldn't care less :)

@Hameed. There is a difference between inflated vs almost accurate. I was getting 1200m for a 300m elevation ride. Now I get exactly the correct value with the replacement unit.

@Marco - agreed. Your numbers don't make any sense at all. That's 300% higher..

I never saw any numbers like that so perhaps my unit was not "defective" to begin with...

There are probably different issues at play here for different people and different units in different places. My Karoo 2 works pretty much normally in Finland but goes completely nuts (as in total ascent sometimes over 50 times actual) in Germany, with mobile data enabled anyway.
