Karoo 2 reset during race - 30km of data lost
Dear Hammerhead support team,
Yesterday I raced the Marmotte, one of the hardest amateur granfondo races in Europe.
During Galibier's descent, while I still had ~40% battery level, my Karoo 2 spontaneously reset. After a few min of black screen, it went back to life and offered me to resume the ride, which I did.
When uploading the activity to Strava, I noticed 30km (and unfortunately most of the Galibier ascent) were not accounted for, though starting and ending geoloc points were correct.
How come such blackout happens? Why isn't there an automatic backup feature in place? Due to a crazy device glitch, I'm left with some random race numbers, including:
- partly lost route
- inconsistent timestamp data (start time is in year 1989 while end time is correct)
2 questions:
1. How to fix this for this activity?
2. How can I make sure this never happens again, especially in a race? From a quick search on the forum, this seems like a recurring bug. Starting to doubt about Hammerhead reliability after 3 years without any issue...
Thanks
