Karoo 2 not recording ride

I don't have a speed sensor but my Karoo 2 works fine using GPS normally.Today it would not record anything,display said no speed sensor but I have never used one. Would not record speed/distance,looked like it was paused. I was not on indoor profile. Any advice appreciated
