I did get a quick and nice reply from Hammerhead at least but they didn’t really tell me anything. I think I’m going to have to return the Karoo and stick with Garmin. I’m not about to get a Strava account just to sync data to Apple health especially because I do not like strava as a company and want nothing to do with them. Also the Karoo apparently ty only provides calories if you have a power meter and I’m not getting a power meter just for that. One of the reasons I was willing to try the Karoo is that Ki2 is coming out for it but Garmin does Di2 info out of the box as a standard feature. Apple health sync is not complicated to do and people have been asking for it for four years. I can only assume Hammerhead is not doing this for their own reasons regardless of what their users want. One other thing I noticed is the Karoo climbing feature seems to only work on major climbs but Garmin seems more sensitive to minor climbs too. I haven’t seen this in any of the many reviews I’ve seen, but it has been my experience. So yeah. I’m going to ride with both a Garmin 840 and the New Karoo today as one last check but I think the Karoo is going back. Too bad. Lots to like about it but data isn’t one of them. I don't care about mapping by the way since I never use it. I’m not here to troll so if anyone has any comments I would be glad to hear them!

I don't know why synchronization with Apple Health hasn't been implemented yet. This is probably the highest priority. We still have to pay for third-party apps that don't work well just because we can't transfer data to Apple Health. Because of this, other apps like Athlytic and Bevel don't have data to analyze our fitness or health. Please make this a priority. It's so frustrating...

    PS

Strava sends almost no training data to Apple Health—for example, basic data such as heart rate is missing, so Hammerhead's response is meaningless...

can someone from @hammerheadsupport respond to this?

Here was an official response over 4 years ago before the companion app.  with the companion app you would think that HealthKit integration would be easy
