    Hello JR,
The companion app only works with the "New Karoo" (K3).

This is pure greed on Hammerheads end. Hammerhead better wake up before they start to lose more business. Loyalty has to be earned!

Totally agree, the part that I hated about Karoo2 was no companion app. Hammerhead publishes the companion app with K3 in Nov 2024 but goes silent that it doesn’t work with k2 letting their customers think they are doing something wrong. So frustrated, I went back to Garmin!
Finally I see it’s not me, it’s the companion app is only designed to work with K3!!!!

That’s odd  if the Companion App pairing is set up correctly, the QR code should definitely appear on the Karoo 2. It sounds like a firmware or app version mismatch rather than user error. Issues like this are frustrating, especially when basic pairing works elsewhere  reminds me of random sync hiccups people complain about with apps like Snaptube too.

Even before the launch of "New Karoo", when using Karoo2 I used to launch the dashboard via android website on my phone then turning it like app (like google chrome does when clicking on three dots ... and select "Install page as app...").

Done that on my phone and done the same on my desktop.

Hope this might help you and please stop blamming switch karoo over garmin or other companies...you probably will regret it lol (once i´ve switched karoo2 to edge840 and i´ve regreted after the first edge boot and see that pixelated screen looking old AF).

    Cheers

You could try a lightweight screen recorder APK, but honestly I’d be careful installing random apps on a Karoo Some people just mirror the screen to a PC and record from there, which feels safer. If it’s for uploads, YouTube Premium + simple edits can already make your videos look clean.
