byebye Karoo 2?

I have had the Karoo 2 for about three years and I think it is the best bike GPS device I have ever had. Without a doubt.
However, today, oh great misfortune... I detached it from the handlebar mount and it fell to the ground, the very first time ever, 90 cm and completely dead!
I am so disappointed... the screen remains black and I can see that the backlight is working, a faint glimmer of light. I tried to reset as described with the various buttons for 20 seconds... I heard a few short beeps but the screen remains dead...
Is this just for the bin?
