Last year my Karoo unit was a disaster. Now I’m very happy. Today 180km with SRAM AXS, QUARQ PM and HR STRAP connected, route to follow (30km with continuous rerouting because I changed road) and no battery save: 5h:45min of Ride time + 1h:27min of breakfast, lunch (always with Karoo ON) I finished the ride with 48% of battery. It was great in my opinion.

I would recommend to contact the Hammerhead support, if the battery life is still at 8 hours even after two or three charge circles (and maybe a calibration), as the Karoo should last longer with normal use (which I can confirm as I've been using it since September).

Since I never use the live tracking, I can't say if this feature puts extra strain on the battery, on the other hand you didn't mention if the screen was set to auto or manual mode.

One thing I have noticed with the new Karoo is the same habit as the Karoo 2, which is that the battery drains a little faster once the low battery warning comes on. I never used the battery saver mode on the new Karoo, but on the Karoo 2 the battery saver mode was of absolutely no use.

The K3 battery runs out very quickly. After switching to the 1050 I don't have to worry about the battery on the road again

I'm seriously considering changing devices too.

I have to see if all the great features of the Karoo are also possible with Garmin
