Sensors intermittent connection
AnsweredDoes anyone experience the sensor intermittent connection issue? I paired HR, Speed Sensor, Power Meter and Varia Radar with my HH, I noticed that those sensors would keep disconnecting and connecting back again, non-stop. It is extremely frustrating and dangerous for the Radar to be disconnected during a ride. I don't know what makes of this but initially when I got it, it didn't show this problem. (Or maybe I didn't realize).
After I cleaned up the disk by removing some files, now it seems to be improving? Is there a limitation how much free space you should reserve for the HH working normally? If there is, can you restrict the usage of the free space? It is critical that you have to ensure the bike computer working reliably during the ride.

I am experiencing problems with my garmin ant+ speed/distance, hrm and cadence sensors also. From initial pairing I tried the karoo on my turbo set up, the unit was dropping the connection then reconnecting constantly also. I have fitted new high quality batteries to the sensors but no change.
This is rendering it unusable on the turbo at the moment.

Hi everyone,
I see that you are facing issues with sensor connectivity. I am happy to look into this and help you with the best resolution.
Could you please write back to us at support@hammerhead.io?This will be more convenient for us to troubleshoot the issue.

Yes, also experience the same. All ANT+ Sensors drop about every 40km or so and then come back in a minute, my Favero Assioma Powermeter drops much more often (to 0 or "...") and comes back in seconds to minutes.
(Sensors: Heartrate berryking, Garmin Cadence and Favero Assioma Powermeter [which can report Cadence as well, but drops much more often than the Garmin Cadence sensor].) -
I too have had definite problems "connecting" and "calibrating" my PowerTap P1 pedals. When my Karoo was new Oct. 2019 they were paired via Bluetooth and worked satisfactorily but sometime in the early Spring, probably after an HH update, they began to rendering power levels of about half what was previous and current on my Garmin Edge 1000. Support instructed me to unpair them via Bluetooth and add them via ANT+ which I did. Only to find they were 50 times more difficult to "connect" with and "calibrate." Over the last couple weeks I have been so frustrated with calibration that I frequently left on my rides without it. Once or twice I got a small banner at the top saying the P1 pedals had calibrated successfully, maybe 20 or 30 min. into the ride, through no help on my part. Most of the time the just seemed to work until the last couple days. Unpairing via ANT+ and attempting to re-pair was completely UNSUCCESSFUL today (6/7/20) so I had no choice but to post my Garmin results on Strava instead. So back to HH Support again!

I had this problem today, my first time using the HH on an outdoor ride. I tried pairing with Stages power meter in the house. They paired. Then when I started my ride outside, there was no power data. I tried pairing again, but could not achieve it, so I had to ride without power data. After I got home from the ride, they paired again before I put the bike away. I'll have to see if that holds for the next ride.

I am still riding with an edge 820. I will keep it probably for a while as i "need" some Garmin IQs when riding . I keep it also as a backup just in case of...
long story short i could compare how fast / how frequent one of my ant peripherals disconnect / reconnect from either K2 or Edge820. It is true that in my hands powermeters and electronic gears take much more time to reconnect on K2 than on Edge 820 (but not HR and varia radar that are recorded as good on edge and K2). i guess it is related to these peripheral going onto pause mode when not used (i.e. not pedalling downhill or having a break; not change in gears for few minutes). I am sure K2 software can be enhanced to be as fast as edge 820 in reconnecting those devices.
Well, speaking of the varia Radar. Edge warning is earlier than the K2 (more or less 1second i would say) right now riding with both edge and K2 it is a kind of a longer warning with both computers which is fine, but i wished K2 was as fast as edge in warning. At least i don't see any reason why it shouldn't be

I have to reset "Sensors" before each ride. Otherwise the device never picks up the signal.
I have several bikes, two of them are equipped with Di2 transmitter (EW-WU111). The problem gets significantly worse when the two transmitters are defined (of course, only one of them is connected at the same time). I must remove the unused one to ever the "sensors reset trick" have a chance to work.

I am having a similar problem. Sensors have all been paired, but they do not connect when I start a ride. I have to go to each one in the Sensor list for it to connect. Then during the ride, I often lose connection. This is particularly true of the power connection (Vector 3 pedals) and almost universally true after I have stopped for a few minutes.

There's one more thing I have learned in the meantime. The sensors are prioritized. It's possible to drag and select which of the power meters has precedence, etc. Apparently, when the one on the top of the list is not available, it impacts the availability of the next one on the list. I haven't tried it yet (since it's temporarily a spring here in Poland, I left only sensors for my road bike and removed the gravel and mtb power meters) but gonna play with it this week
